What a great MS Neuro

Yesterday I sent a email to my MS Neuro to inform him of my heart attack and changes in my medications that I'm on. I also informed him in the email that I am either in a pseudo flare or actual flare that start on Sunday following the MI.

This morning I got a call from his nurse to check on how I am doing, making sure that I watched out for a UTI, and to have me email him every few days so that he could track how I was doing. She also said he was going to think a bit on what he can do to help me through this flare since IVSM is not an option right after a MI.

A lot of the time when I see him I have trouble understanding what he says. He is soft spoken and I'm hard of hearing, plus he speaks with a strong India accent. But he sure does care about his patients.  When I had my last flare in April he actually got the VA to get me started on IVSM within 24 hours of my contacting him. That is a huge feat with the bureaucracy in the VA with all of their paperwork.

I'm going to miss having him as my MS Neuro when I move to ME. Wonder if he would consider moving up there as well? LOL

Gas on the way to the doc, $3.75/ gallon. Lunch, $8.35. A good neurologist, priceless!

It's very comforting to have a Dr you trust, especially when it concerns major health issues.

My husband and I feel so blessed that he has the Neurololgist as well as the Endocrinologist that he has. Everything seems to be so "hurried and harried" these days, when you have a Dr that calls to check up on you, you know you have a "keeper"!

My MS Neuro isn't at the VA, but the VA sends me to see him, Thank God.

The first time I met him I didn't think I would be able to work with him mostly due to not being able to understand what he was saying. I think I only understood maybe 1 out of every 3 words he said. LOL But I decided that I would give him another chance and I'm glad I did. It was at the second appointment with him that I got my MS DX so I figured that well he must understand what I say at least. I am able to understand more of what he says to me now, probably because I have gotten use to his accent.

I know what you mean Dennis.  I'm not receiving care at the VA, but I have an awesome neuro.  The idea of moving away, or him retiring makes me very nervous.  (He assures me that with three kids and a mortgage, he can't afford to retire.)  Every time we talk about moving closer to family in Texas, pretty much all I can do is worry about how I'll find another neurologist I like.
