Tendonitis

Does anyone else have difficulty with recent dx. of multiple sites of tendonitis. Going to PT for this, but not much is helping. Have had cortisone injection into shoulder to help along with 6 weeks of PT. Frustrated with lack of progress in overcoming symptomss.

Welcome to the forum.

Tendons connect muscle to the anchor point on bone.  Tendinitis is an inflammation of the tendon.

Spasticity is the muscle remaining is some state of contraction all the time.  This is abnormal, since the muscles normally work in pairs - one contracts and another relaxes.  If the muscle stay contracted all the time, they pull on the tendons.  It seems to me that the two could go hand in hand, or that tendinitis might be diagnosed when in actuality it is spasticity.

Baclofen is an antispasmodic and used to treat spasticity.  Tendinitis is typically treated with anti-inflammatory drugs like NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc,) or Steroids.

The first line of tratment for spasticity is stretching and physical therapy.  Drugs like baclofen help and may be effective, but you must keep that range of motion.

Good luck,

Bob

I have had tendonitis in my feet, my knee, my elbow and now my wrist. What is spasticity? I take baclofen. What else can I do?

Hi there, I had pain in my shoulder for 6 months, then I went to PT, they said it was a frozen shoulder.  It took a few months more then it finally settled, but it still can bother me at times.  Hope you feel better soon

I was erroneously diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel and Tendonitis that didn't go away  for YEARS that was leading to atrophy before I was finally diagnosed with MS and found out it was spasticity. I am in PT now to relieve the spasming and strengthen the muscles. I am slowly but FINALLY getting some relief.

I have had tendonitis in both feet, left shoulder, and right elbow.  Rest, ice, and NSAIDs have really been my only way of overcoming each area. I am now battling tennis elbow in my dominant arm. It is keeping me from painting which is what I do. It is really frustrating.

With a shoulder you want to move it to keep it from locking. The thing with a shoulder is the nerves go through this channel and when that swells it pinches down on the nerve and hurts. My shoulder took more than six weeks but I have had no trouble in a couple of years.
