MRI questions

On my last mri the findings state:

There are multiple foci of high signal within the white matter of the cerebral hemispheres.  There are subtle foci of high signal involving the periatrial white matter in the region of the optic radiations.

What does 'subtle' mean in regards to lesions?

I have some eye issues (blurry off and on, scotomas, etc) and the optho said my eye problems are not physical but neurological.  I take it that the lesions involving the optic radiations are causing this?

I no nothing about mri's and the wording is confusing to me.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

I sure don't know.  But, maybe it's as if they are not large or stand out so much.  They should just give the size of them, durrnit, and we'll decide if they are subtle or not - hmpf!

see you around,

I would interpret "subtle foci" to mean that even though they are difficult to view,  there is evidence that they are present.

Have you seen an opthamologist for a complete vision exam?  If the doctor thinks it is neurological, you would want to have a baseline study from now to compare with later.
