Awaiting mri - feel awful and scared

Hi.

This is my first post on here.I've been having varied symptoms for years now. It started with attacks of vertigo, room spinning, dizziness, falling over etc. The past year i've been getting pins and needles in hands and feet, sometimes face, pain in neck, eyes and random "flashes" of pain all over particually in feet and toes, frequent passing of water, and the occasional numbness. I feel so tired and run down. Now i'm losing hair in the handfuls, when i wash my hair, it literally comes out in handfuls, there's always a huge hairball at the plug hole!. Even my i brush, or pull my fingers through my hair, it's coming out. I cried my eyes out in the shower the other day, with my hands full of my hair, i wondered what the hell is happening to me.
I got an mri next week and am awaiting to see a neuro. All my bloods came back fine.
Anyone going through or been through this? I'm  scared, i have four small children and have just got a new job,  and i feel like ****.

Hi Nicola,
Welcome to the board. I am new here also. I can tell you that these are a great bunch of people who are genuine with their thoughts and concerns :)
I was also wondering as Shelly had asked, have they checked your Thyroid? Also, you had mentioned that you have (4) children. Are any of them newborn? The reason I ask is because sometimes hormones can geta little out of wack after birth as well as with nursing which could possibly explain hair loss. Just a thought though. I am no doctor.
I hope that you get answers quickly. Keep us informed.
Have a wonderful evening.

Hi Nicola -

This is scary, and mortifying when hair loss is involved because then people can "see" that something has gone awry.  I'm so sorry, you must be devastated.  I'm so glad to see that you are in a doctors care right now.  Although, w/all of this testing and time inbetween appointments, I'm sure it doesn't "feel" like good care.

I don't know a lot about the dizzy, I'm afraid, but we have a few here that do.  Has that for the most part passed? I hope so. So, I'm sure they will pop in soon.  When you say bloodwork was good, I'll like to ask if your thyroid was checked as well? To include that free T3 - T4, and antibodies?  Are you keeping copies of the reports from the labs?  This is very, very important.

I want you to know that we are here no matter what.  We'll be here while you are scared, angry, and upset.  Do the best you can w/your job and children.  This is all you can do honey.  Just do what you can, and don't beat yourself up over what you cannot accomplish right now.  Are your children very young?  Toddlers? Toys and "stuff" slung all around the house right?  My solution - laundry baskets! Get them to throw them in there until you get to the point of being able to organize again.  Even the little one's can do this.

Stay w/us, we're here for you!
