Went to the Opthamologist Finally

So after waiting 2 and a half hours in the waiting room, fuming and verbalizing my appreciation for the lack of respect for my time, I finally got to see the opthamologist.
Luckily my eyes were acting up today (is that lucky?!?)
She did a few exams and then told the lady in the hall to get my neuro's phone # (Is that bad)
Of course the rest of the free world has already gone home by the time I got to be seen so my neuro was not in.
She wanted to find out from him what exactly she should discuss with me being that I have obvious neurological issues with my eyes and she wasn't sure how strong my dx of MS was.

She asked me if my eyes were my only MS issues and I said "Oh heck NO"
At which point she said "WHEW! Ok then I can just tell you what I see and let you discuss it with your neuro"

So I have nystagmus in my right eye, which is my better eye so YAY
But the best part is, she confirmed the totally wierd undescribable feeling I was having. I kept thinking it felt like my eye balls were tired from contracting (almost like a squeezing feeling) but I really didn't know how to describe it.

I told the Dr my vision was disturbed but not blurry. That when I have these episodes it feels like my vision lags but I have the same sensation when I close my eyes.  I did not tell her about the squeezing feeling until she told me that my pupils were really large caused by neurological issues related to MS.

So basically my pupils dilate at random causing a whole slew of issues with my vision.
I was really happy that she basically described to me what I was feeling before I told her.  This makes me less crazy Wheeeee!

Oh I just thought of something, maybe I better get a Dr's note for my wallet so if I get pulled over I don't have to try and pass a sobriety test (which I would fail). Crap where's my list of stuff to remember...

So that is my update, I have MS and it is effecting my vision.  There is not much she could do for me as I am on Baclofen and Lyrica already.
does anyone here have any suggestions for relieving nystagmus or pupil dilation?

I know that driving home in the dark with a 5 year old repeating "Mom how did they fix your eyes so you can see at night? How are you driving right now?" is not the cure :) side effects include headache and irritability.

Thanks for being here

I totally understand the "makes me less crazy" . . . who would ever have thought we could reach this point or attitude???

I do find it interesting that she hesitated to make an independent diagnosis.  It seems that whatever was going on with your eyes would be the same, whether or not you had other MS symptoms. . . . does that make sense???

Glad you were "validated" . . wish there was a cure . . . but feeling less crazy is a good thing :)

Have a good day,

Sherry

I don't think she was wanting to validating my symptoms as much as she didn't want me to come apart in her office if she told me something I didn't expect to hear about MS.

And yes...less crazy is what I was going for it makes all the difference :)
