Tongue tingling/stiffness and chin numbness

Hi All,

I am new here and have some questions regarding my symptoms. About 10 month ago I started having tongue tingling (sometimes stiff and seemed I have to make extra effort when talking) and chin (plus right lower face) numbness. They went away for 2-3 months and then came back, this time with more symptoms, such as sharp pain behind my right ear and above eyebrows and tingling toes.

So far I have done three MRIs for brain and two MRIs for C-spine (all with contrasts). All came back essential negative, so no dx yet.   Also I have done blood work including Lupus, Lyme, B-12, and V-D. B-12 is 553pg/ml and V-D is 23ng/ml (low).

My question is:  Are tongue tingling/stiffness and chin numbness 100% the indictors of MS? Any other disease may cause these two symptoms? These two symptoms bother me almost every day lately (about four months now).  By the way, I am 47 years old female.

I would appreciate any response. Thank you so much!

There are no 100% indicators for MS - that is part of what makes a diagnosis so difficult.

If you want to look up what else might be the cause of your symptoms, check out

diagnosispro.com - they will give you an assorted list of differential diagnoses for symptoms that you enter into their system.

If you put in "tingling tongue" and select the L'hermittes option, you will see 15 different possible causes for it, including MS.

It sounds like your doctor is taking your complaints seriously and doing the right tests so far.

be well, Lulu
