Tysabri question for this on it.

I am having a side effect from , I think, from my 1st Tysabri infusion 3 days ago.  About 15 minutes into the infusion, I became extremely nauseous.  It got really bad, and I needed a bucket.  Got better, and has been coming in waves ever since. I spoke with NP at neuros office yesterday.  Called in an anti-nausea medication. That is giving me a bad bad headache.

The NP told me she had never heard of nausea as a side effect. She thinks it is coincidental.  Has anyone here experienced that? The next day, I went to my pain neuro for the 5 injections in my head for all the Neuralgias I deal with.  I doubt it is related to that, since it is my 4th time with the injections.  (I go every 3 months.)

Just looking for some feedback,
Thanks,
Michelle

Hey Michelle,

I'm sorry to hear that you are under so much stress - but that could certainly play into being nauseated, because getting the very first infusion of Tysabri is stressful in and of itself!  I remember being VERY stressed before my first one, not really knowing what to expect or what effect it was going to have on me.  Hopefully things will be able to calm down some for you before the 2nd infusion, and it will go much easier .... and hopefully there will be no nausea  involved!

Michelle,

At least you'll know next time, if it happens again. You have so much on your plate, all the time! I never know how you do it. Hang in there.

Thanks Rita and GG.

I think it "may" have been my nerves? VERY stressed this week with family staying with us, Passover and my 1st Tysabri infusion.  I am finally feeling better.  Just need to figure out how to de-stress myself~

I'm with Rita on this one.  I never got nauseous on Tysabri.  After 8 months on it, I started getting skin lesions, and my skin was REALLY dry.  Much drier than usual.  I still love the stuff, though.  I will probably go back on it by the end of the summer.

Hey Michelle,

I've never had nausea from the Tysabri, at least not that I can remember.  In the early days I'd sometimes get a headache or a little tired, but that was about it.  The infusions themselves have always been pretty uneventful - my issues come from the effects of the Tysabri on my immune system over the long term.

Could it be coincidence and you are just fighting off a bug at the same time, do you think?  I'm glad you called your doc and they gave you something for the nausea - always let them know everything, cause you never know what's important in the long run.  Hope you are feeling better soon.... let me know if I can help in any way.

Bye for now,
Rita
