Need Advice

It's been a while since I've last posted on here but have been reading up on everyone when I can. For those of you who don't know me, I'm undiagnosed, told I won't be diagnosed with anything and that I have something new. No one will see me now so I'm left to find symptom relief where I can.

As seems to be the norm for a lot of people weather wise, we are in a heat wave here with temps hitting the high 90's and into 100's with the humidity. We have no air conditioner but for the most part the house usually stays cool until now. I have fans running and have been using the tips from Lulu's post but am still suffering. Anything I try seems only to last a short time and then I'm right back where I was. Now, even though I'm trying cool showers, wetting my clothes etc. the symptoms aren't abating.

My body seems to have an issue regulating my temperature and so in hot weather I feel like my insides are boiling and in cold, can't warm up. So now I'm boiling resulting in my legs going wonky, speech slurring and right eye blurring with slight double vision.

I just started a second part time job and am in training and need to work this Saturday a double shift but not sure how I'll manage with suffering already with this dratted weather. I just can't not go as I need this job badly and am hoping someone has found another way of regulating body temp.

Thanks
Moki

Hello.  I haven't been on here in awhile, either, but I do read up on the posts most days.  I am trying to stay over in the limboland forum, as it seems that is where I belong for now.

Anyways, have you tried filling a ziploc baggie (resealable) with ice and putting on the back of your neck?  This usually works for me.  It does get fairly cold, so I usually wrap it with a dish towel.  I leave it on there until it's not cold anymore.  This really works.

I also second the room temp water.  It has something to do with your body working harder to regulate the cold temperature, thus making you warmer (at least I think that is what I was taught, lol!)

Hope you stay cool and get some relief from your symptoms soon!

Hi MOki girl,

I know that if you are popping in instead of reading, your not doing well at all, girl.

I'm so sorry. I don't have anything to contribute as to what else you can try - just pray you have some moving air where you are working.

For me, I'm worse when I go from hot to cold (same thing - small threshhold between the two), so the only thing I have to offer is since you start at 9 when the heat is not at it's worse, see if you can slowly adjust to the increase in temp. For example, don't start any water spritzing (or wet clothes, etc) until much later, that way your not going from one extreme to the next.

I sure don't know - just know that I wish none of this were so for. Alex brings up a good pt about the water. Watch salt too - anything that contributes to retention. High protein foods will keep the water flowing and will keep you cooler too - I don't know why, but it just does.

Thinking about you much,
-shell

Lulu, I'm not sure either how I'm going to manage Saturday. I'm working the one job 9-2and then go from there right to the next one and work 2-10:30. I'm getting off work 10 minutes earlier from the first one to make it on time to the next one. The fatigue will be hard enough to deal with never mind the heat and the symptoms it causes.

Alex, I hadn't thought of the room temp water but will give that a try. I do find that cold drinks make me feel worse so that makes sense to me.

Hugs to you both
Moki

Drink lots of water if you can.The temperature of the water can help. I do not drink ice cold water, I mix cold with room temperature. Or leave bottle water out of the frige.

This really is the week to see some old familiar faces reappear here - it is good to see you, Moki!

I wish there were more tips I could share that might work for you but pulling a double shift on Saturday sounds like torture.  Good luck with finding a way through the night,

hugs,
L
