Update on me with Betaserum:(

My family dr has been watching over me as my neurologist has the summers off my white blood cells have been up and down in July they were 1.8 ( normal is 2.5 ), I got retested a week later I was back up to around 2.1/ 2.3 which is good this month I went down to 1.6 then I got tested again I was up to 1.8 then b/c I had to start going weekly I got a call today and I am down to 1.3 so my family dr wanted me to discontinue until I see my neurologist which will be on Tuesday...I have decided to go on leave at work until my body sorts it self out I am tired of all the side effects and with probably starting new meds ( prob Rebif ) I am gonna have side effects yet again I think Tylenol is my best friend lol...so staying home is probably the best thing for me and with the snow that is going to come in a few months so will the flu and colds....no thanks as my immune wouldn't be able to handle it being around all the truck drivers I deal with day to day...Bedtime for me..hope everyone is doing good...

Yep it is I am pretty sure b/c I am low in the white blood cells that I had to stop the meds I am still on weekly blood tests- right now but because I have been a roller coaster all summer this is the lowest I have dropped so I was told yesterday to stop meds until I see the neurologist- on tuesday there is nothing I can take to get them up either which ***** but life....so I am pretty sure she is gonna be switching my meds as I am not gonna be a pin cushion on my arms each week once a month is good enough...

Why are you stopping the Betaseron and switching meds?  Is it the white blood cell count that is prompting the switch?

hey ...thanks for replying back to me I have been on full dose for approx 3 weeks my side effects weren't too bad mainly headaches, flu like symptoms but dealt with them using Tylenol and I was fine for the most part ( started the medicine around June 20 ) never dealt with the chills or sweats with the medicine I think I will be put on Rebif starting next week and also weekly blood tests so I am hoping this one will work for me...I am just sooooo scared right now with the what if's out there.......thanks again

Sorry to hear about your problems with Betaseron.  My wife has been taking it now few several months and the side affects seem to be easing a bit now.  She still doesn't sleep well because of the sweats, chills, etc., but not as bad as the first weeks or so of a full dose.  Some of her toubles now we are no sure if it is side affects from the meds or just the MS acting up.

How long have you been on the med?  Are you taking a full dosage?  What have been your side affects?

Take care and good luck to you.
