What's up this week?

First full week of August is here and I feel the summer days slipping away - how about you?

I already started today with a physical appt with my PCP - I see her once or twice a year whether I am sick or not. She did a bunch of labwork - I need to be sure I'm not incubating some new cootie because I had an elevated temp today -  my normal is 97.7 and I was 99.0.

We have outdoor concerts three nights in a row this week, so I am hoping for this cool weather to continue.  They should be all fun - Happy Together Tour with the Turtles and a bunch of other old groups.  The The Sailrock Concert with Christopher Cross and Orleans, among others.  Friday night is the official Blues Brothers Review, produced by Dan Ackroyd and Judy Belushi.  It was just bad timing on my part that I got tixs for all three - didn't occur to me that it was all in a row.

Postponed  my colonoscopy until late September so I could enjoy the concerts

How about you - what are you doing this week?  Please share
hugs to all, Laura

We went to the rodeo/fair yesterday, it was so awesome!  There was a bunch of animals on display, they were all 4H projects and so tame and friendly, my kids got to pet like a million goats, sheep and chickens.  The pigs kinda freaked them out.  My husband had never seen any of them in real life either and so I made him pet them all too, even the pigs, lol!

We also saw the rodeo, everyone loved it and my girls sat through the whole thing (they're 3 and 1.5) I was the only one who had been to one before and so it was awesome to see the hubby and kids see something new.  It was just such a great day!

Passing Lu's hometown now - on I-70 at I-75.  Miserable rain but looks a bit brighter to the west.

John, I don't have a dog in that fight, brother.  You & she willl just have to work it out.

Peace.

I had mine removed in 2011 and I was so relieved because the attacks had gotten severe. I was a little sore for a couple days but did not require the pain meds.

The surgeon put me off for two weeks and that was all I needed, but it is important to follow their instructions because it would be easy to overdo it.

Quick update.  Appointment was yesterday.  The neurologist is WONDERFUL (saw the ms clinic head). He is scheduling me to come back for a full day of testing, and to call if "anything" worsens so he can bump it sooner.

Do you know how great it feels to be believed?  Of course, I had the support of some pretty bad neuro test results, but still.  His viewpoint -- my mri doesn't look like ms, BUT something is definitely wrong and "we are going to get to the bottom of this."

Yup.  Cried.  Forgot all of my questions.

Had my gall bladder out in 2000.  Nothing to it, when done laparoscopically.  I went in early the day of surgery and was discharged around noon the next day.  I was somewhat sore for a while - maybe as long as a week and a half, IIRC.  However, I can tell you I've had only two notable stomach aches in all the years since, and both of those were from food poisoning.

Oh Sarah and Dennis... I am so close yet so far from you both.. :(
I just came home yesterday from there!

Alex- I have heard of a fabulous new medication to offset the sickness that comes with chemo... Is that an option? Thinking of you :)

For me.... I am just content with my lovely new art on my foot... Inspiring me to keep going.. "One step at a time" :)
I am headed to neuro / ms nurse appt next Monday. Wish me luck to have things go ok... And just get the dmd started already!!
**foot tapping**

Well, have you ever heard of the song "A Boy Named Sue" snicker.
So we can call him "WILL - OW"

Dennis is here, he arrived this afternoon and we are going to wow him with the wonders of Northern Maine!

Sorry to hear you're having to deal with that chemo stuff still, Alex.  Super to hear of all the ink your paint's getting, though.

Hey, Laura, we are very jealous if the concerts, BTW.  Very strange coincidence, I am sure, but the Turtles came up last week in a completely unrelated conversation, and I found myself this eeekend looking up the lyrics to "Think of Laura," by Christopher Cross, along with a refresher on the back story.

I was really sick from Chemo over the weekend. I was up sick for three days straight. I do not know how Doctors and nurses can give you chemo like it is no big deal. No one who has not experienced it has a clue. To think I will have chemo for the rest of my life. Hopefully I will only be really sick 4 days a month.

On a good note my painting of Polly made the local paper. I am in a animal show with a bunch of artists. The Art Critic was my mentor in college.

Well, because I was told if the cspine came back with lesions, I would be sent for an LP (which still wouldn't confirm ms).  It came back with "no convincing signal" (does that mean none? lol) -- I was told that if that happened, I wouldn't be seen there again.  I have a second opinion this week at another clinic so I don't expect anything different -- I would still like an explanation for how you can have all sorts of ms-y symptoms (4-8 weeks each, spread over 6-10 months), an MRI that meets McDonald criteria, and NOT have ms ... but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get that.  The only thing I have enough energy to push for is help with sleep -- 0-4 hours is not enough.

Truly ... I hope it isn't ms, because one thing I've learned in the last 6 months is if there's a side effect to a medication (in particular side effects that "no one" gets) I will get them.  I imagine I'd be a poor candidate for DMD's.

Feeling tired.

Best part of my week was bringing home my new puppy yesterday.  He is bright and curious and playful and adorable to look at.  None of that new puppy, first time away from mom sulking that I've experienced in previous pups.

Meeting new GP on Wednesday, haven't seen a GP since before I moved in February!  Longest time not seeing one since before MS!  Which indicates, until recently, relative stability in health, except......I am having what so far seems to be a minor relapse.  Discussed by phone with MS nurse on Friday and she's certain that's what it is.  Started a week ago as that hypersensitive, sunburn feeling on my right forearm - the arm that's caused me little trouble compared to left side.  Anyway, the sunburn-ish feeling has spread all through that arm, shoulder, and upper right quadrant of my back.  Showering feels like a thousand tiny needles jabbing me.  Fatigue not worse than usual, and no other new symptoms so far, so fingers crossed this is as bad as it gets.  No plans for steroids at this point.  The nurse will inform my neuro and let me know if he wants to see me.  I did ask about a new MRI, last one over a year ago.  She will let me know.

I did inform the nurse about that weird episode I had two weeks ago and she thinks unrelated to this relapse and unrelated to MS.  She suggested migraine, or, as some of you suggested, TIA.  Yikes.  So that's on the list for the doc and perhaps he will run some follow up tests.  Really hoping it's not some serious underlying cause.  MS is enough, thank you very much. :)

Have a great week, All!
