Update to the Back Spot

So, I must have communication problems. I was unable to describe the sinking spot to my Doc's office and get an appt pronto (ok so Thursday noon isn't quick enough for my tastes) and here I am with a now growing problem. I am only updating you becuase I don't want to return thursday and have to give the back story to my leg being amputated or something drastic of the sort. Who knows. Grin.

Currently the spot has sunk in more (I think or is it that the fluid is now more pronouced?) and now fluid has collected arround it and I have what looks like half oranges all around it in a radius about the size of two of my hands, and it feels like pressure and I tell you, it has definetly registered on my pain scale now. I'm going for the Tylenol which in my book is heavy duty. (smile). I also feel ugh. Gross. Basically... and I just took my temp and all including all that tylenol I think it's starting to climb the stairs... my nice 97.5 always just came in at 99 a few minutes ago. This has definetly got me thinking.

sooooooo I went and asked some friends who are OR nurses and an ER nurse to take a look-see. I got the "oh wow.. I've never seen that. I think you are in pain becuase all that fluid is pushing on something. Oh, wow we will pray for you... when is your appointment.. what time Thursday? Can't you get in any sooner?" And I tell you that did not make me feel any better. Please tell me a Doctor will know WHAT to do when I get there?
------------
ok. at this point I need to know. Do I go to a walk in clinic wednesday. Or go to my doctor who knows all my history on Thursday (he knows like, everything in my volumenous chart).

Grins and lots of laughs still coming from this sunny gal...

Gotta love ya'll- forgot how I missed you. I saw the Doc at a walk in clinic downstairs from my regular doc- so he had my chart. I will post an update as soon as I type it.

Please go to the ER.  Your sx sx scream infection to me (now more than yesterday).  Follow Quix's advice--she's always spot on.

You heard Momma Doc Q's orders, g/f; get thee to a medical professional before you reach the end of this sentence.

Be seen ASAP, honey.  Something weird is going on.  This sounds like an hematoma that was reabsorbing, but is now infected.  Now it sounds like you are describing a growing abcess in the area.  I'm not sure if I am comfortable waiting for the morning.  we have seen some VERY aggressive infections recently.  Draw a line around any redness/pain and see if you can see an enlarging of the area within a couple hours.  If so, you need EMERGENT care.

Time to run around waving our arms in the air and panicking - all right, it's not that serious, but I want you SEEN ASAP.

My sis in law has done that.  She has super bad hives and they didn't take her seriously at first.  She just went and sat in the Dr office until they squeezed her in.
Most likely it will be shorter time than a clinic, and you never know what you will be exposed to at a walk in.

Best wishes to you on a total and speedy recovery.

Sunny, I agree with Ren.  Call that doctor the first thing and give them your ultimatum as Ren laid out here.

If you go to a walk-in clinic with this and your history, they will probably refer you on to the ER.

Someone here recently wrote about showing up at their doctors as Ren described and getting seen.

Keeping my fingers crossed you get through to them that this could be serious.

I agree Sunny.  A call to let them know this area is changing rapidly and increasingly painful is necessary.  They really need to fit you in.

Sunny,
Personally, I would call the office the second they open and tell them you will be there in (what ever the commute time is) and will wait to be worked in as the pain is getting worse and you are now running a temp. With a complicated history I wouldn't chance a walk-in clinic.

I hope things go well for you!!! Let us know what happens tomorrow!

Hugs and smiles,
Ren
