Thank you Shadow Sister for your post, my dad installed a very good solid handrail in my shower this summer and also put a rail along the steps into the house to help me there too.
I'll go and check out the health page by Lori.

Hi DJ,
This is an excellent reminder to everyone that Lori put a lot of effort into the research on adaptive aids for the bathroom and has it posted as a health page. She even included pictures of the various items so you can compare - it's amazing how many shower seats there are!
thanks,
L
PS - its good to see you back on the forum - we'll chat soon.
It seems like the most important part of this message didn't get through at all... All though some of your replies about "Shaving" were very cute and funny..
I hope those of you who do use the SHOWER will please talk to your Doctors about a "Shower Chair", Very Warm and Hot water does funny things to our muscles and can cause serious accidents. Those of you who mainly use the tub, than please check into installing Safety Handles, ( Not the type that are glued) These are in case you become weak while in the nice Hot water and your Sweetie isn't there to help you out of the tub..
I too live in the state of Denial at times and have been caught both in theTub and Shower due to spasms and weaken muscles, It wasn't Funny and I was lucky I didn't break something, but was so embarrassed when the office manager had to come and help me..Thank Goodness it was a woman or never would have called for help : - )
If it seems like am stuck on this subject it's because I care about all of you and don't want any of you to have an accident because I didn't speak up and say some thing I felt was important. Believe me I know how difficult it is when we are forced to change the way we look at things and the way we do things. No One likes to admit that things are changing and forcing us to re-think things, but having changes forced on you due to an accident isn't that great either.
Take care of yourselves and do some thing kind just for You today...

Well, my condition has deteriorated quite a bit that I've been unable to shave for over a month. I've been to embarrassed to ask my husband for his help. This has been difficult for me to give up some of my self grooming dignities. I will see if the electric shaver helps. I'm so stiff that I'm not able to maneuver as I need.
Thanks for your wisdom!
Hi.. glad you feeling abit better, hope your vision clears soon... and yes I have been using an electric for a few years now... I dont like all the niks I get with the blades...
thanks for letting everyone know...and I agree with age the hair on your legs get lighter or less of...

Thanks, sweet lady, for the valuable reminder.
When I first got tremors, I didn't shave for quite some time. When I do shave, I do it sitting down, using a quadruple blade shaver that so far hasn't caused one tiny cut. I'm always very mindful of what I'm doing.
One of my friends got the word from her doctor last year to start using an electric shaver, and she was relieved. She wears shorts a lot, and was having trouble shaving her legs safely.
I've heard that our leg hair thins out as we get older; I haven't noticed it happening yet! With me it's probably a cushion since I tend to run into coffee tables and such, lol!
:o)
Love and Hugs,
Kathy
Well now I know why my sweetie looks at me funny, when I am sitting on the bed in my underwear, and all these "stalks" are sticking out from my legs......You mean I am suppose to shave my legs?
I'm just kidding, I DO shave my legs, I just do it sitting down. Safer that way.
Love you DJ,
Heather
Welcome back! We've missed your voice of experience around here!!!
