Well, here it is the middle of winter, and I'm missing the fact I didn't have a garden this summer. For some odd reason (which I had no idea way back in the spring) I was so tired and not the least bit interested in putting one together or tending it. Now I know there was a physical cause for this lack of interest, but I still missed having rows of fresh green beans to pick and preserve and fresh tomatoes and all the rest.
So, seeing as how my future gardening plans and abilities (having a hard time keeping commitments that require physical exertion and stamina) are in question, I've decided to get more involved in hydroponics. Earlier this year I tried one of those countertop gardens to grow herbs and loved how easy and clean it was. It was pretty fool proof, but not extremely prolific. After a bit of research I've found better nutrients supposedly make this more successful.
Santa treated me this year to a couple more of these table top hydroponic gardens, and now I've already got some romaine lettuce and cherry tomatoes sprouting under lights in their little pods.
If this is lupus, I may have to give up the outdoors in summer, but I won't have to give up my gardens and fresh produce. Those little winter tomatoes from the store just don't cut it for me.
Adjust and adapt. It's what we do, right?
