Heat index 115 here today. Driving home from work today I started getting dizziness and blurred vision. Just prayed to God to let me get home safely. I have an hour comute to work and my car was still not cool enough for my liking by the time I got home. This year has been horrible with the heat!! My husband was offered a job in PA but turned it down. Sounds like a good idea right now, but the winters yuk!

Thank goodness for my wonderful daughter who loves to run errands for me. All you have to say is go> I remember those days when I was a teenager!!

Everyone stay cool!!

This list is excellent!

Dennis, I think night vision headgear is in order for you! How stinkin cool would THAT be for nightime mowing. Neighbors would be freaked for sure, lol

Keep adding, I'm going to compile them - and Essy, yes - personal, it's going to be titled:

I guess the main thing I do is housework at night when it is cooler. Luckily I live alone so running a vacuum at late night does not disturb anyone. Now if I could only figure out a way to do gardening and lawn mowing at night. I'm sure the nieghbor would shoot me if I went out at 1AM to mow my lawn. LOL

Since heat drains me I try to make a round robin of errands so I am not out in the heat more. I plan is advance. If I get hot I stop. My asthma is also really bad.

I take breaks. I tend to work too long and wear myself out. I time breaks for this reason.

I limit my volunteering. I just can't do what I used to. I used to say I will do that now I think about it. Everyone I volunteer for knows it depends on how I feel that day.

My husband picks stuff up on the way home from work every day. Friends help me out as well. He also knows the minute I have hit my energy limit. Yesterday we were out and he took all I was holding from me. He gentely discourages me from doing more. He is a keeper.

I sleep on a consistent cycle.

I make lists according to importance to be done and do not get too upset if I do not get things done.

I do not do all the house work. I tell people that is just the way it is. I tackle small chores instead of cleaning a whole room or the whole house. Even my husband who does not have health issues mows are lawn in three parts.

Diet is really important to me. So is exercise. Some days exercise is just stretching.I have more energy now that I have lost 40 pounds.

Polly is trained to pull my shopping cart and to pull me when I need it. She just knows when I am tiring. She also will not move when I am weak if I want to leave the house. She looks at me with her big eyes as if to say you are in no shape to go out. She also gets antsy when we are out and she feels I am tired or in pain. She sees what I do not. I am learning to listen to the deaf dog.

Shell, wasn't sure whether you meant electrical power energy or personal supply. I try to do both, when possible. Not using my oven helps a lot. I also have a fairly decent toaster oven broiler that doesn't heat up the whole kitchen, though I'd love recommendations for a really good one.

Anything that keeps the kitchen cooler keeps me cooler. I also have 4 ceiling fans here. These use about the same energy as an incandescent light bulb.

Luckily for me, I at the age and in the circumstances where I don't have to do much I don't feel like doing. I don't know how you younger gals get everything done!

Whoops, getting confused over the air conditioning threads. Just posted a follow up on Alex's when I meant to follow up here.

Had husband install a remote controlled ceiling fan in the master. Can work the fan and the lights with bedside remote. Sweet!

I am up and out early to get whatever I need done done by 10-10:30am.  The heat drains me, but anything I do early morning has very little negative physical effect on me.

Quick and easy meals. Better yet, challenge my kids to do some cooking for the family.

Let the dogs out in the backyard to do their business instead of walking them periodically during the day like I usually do.

LOL well i try to multi task, i get dear son to clear and set the table and dear husband to do the shopping ohh my bad, you meant what 'I' actually do lol I empty the dishwasher whilst waiting for the kettle to boil, if thats already done, i do my stretching and balancing exercises instead.

I make salads stuff and prep during the day and get DH to cook the meat etc on the bbq, i'm in Oz so i can get away with it :-o I have a glass wipe cloth and squeegy thing in the shower and everyone wipes down after their shower, though they are still in training in finding how to put the towl on the rail lol

I actually break down tasks into little-ish steps, if not i cant finish anything, i still have to sit down or get up (if i've fallen again lol) in between but i pick a task and do it bit by bit until its done.

Cheers.......JJ

btw I nap too :-)

using a scooter in the house part time because it takes so much effort and energy to walk. I find I can get more done when I'm doing it from the scooter and I have more energy. Also, have learned to say, "no".   Lulu - 110 today with the heat index up here in Amish ctry, not sure about where you're at...be careful :)

Breathing takes a lot of energy and  causes a lot of extra heat, so I am holding my breath, waiting and hoping for this heat wave to pass!! LOL
