Tingling sensation

Hi guys,

When I was roughly 15 or so, I noticed a tingling sensation in my and (I believe my left). It was mis-diagnosed as carpel tunnel at the time (I played piano and violin so it was plausible). Since then, very gradually, the sensation has progressed to other parts of my body, though not all. My face and both my hands now have this persistent constant tingling sensation. I am now 29

Also, I have no idea if this is related (If I a betting man, I'd say it is), but maybe a year and a half ago I developed a visual disturbance. Where my blind spot would ordinarily be, I now have a persistent flickering, shimmering disk in the field of vision of my right eye, with some accompanying pain.

I had an MRI, which detected no lesions.

Other than that, I am more or less a healthy guy, and I don't really have any major coordination issues (though I wish I were better at piano!)

Any takers?
Cheers,
-S

Any thoughts?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the response.

To Tripnstubmle: I had many blood tests done while I went in for the MRI. Everything came back normal. I'm pretty sure a B12 was done.

To Guitar_grrrl: The MRI was just of my brain, not anything else.

To Julie: The doctors didn't suspect anything really. That is, he said that he thought MS was unlikely, but wanted to take a look anyway.

Right now I am just as in the dark as always...Thanks for the comments though guys.
Best,
Steve

Welcome, Steve!

I'm sorry you've been feeling bad, and I hope you come up with some answers, soon.  It definitely sounds like you've got some neurological goodies going on.

When you had your MRI, was that just the brain, or did they image your C-spine and T-spine as well?  Did they use Gadolinium contrast?

Keep in touch.

Wecome Steve!!

Jumping right in...what other tests have been done other than an MRI. And what was the MRI of? What did the dr's suspect when the ordered the MRI?

Any other symptoms? Most dr's don't immedately jump to MS when someone has numbness or tingling b/c so many other things can cause this. Just wondering what they have tested you for so far.

I'm actually pretty sure I'm at the point of ruling out MS (crossing fingers!!!) I stick around here cause I like the people :) lol

Anyhow, have you had your B12 checked by any chance?
