Update from my Neuro Appt today....

I went to see my Neuro that I saw a year and half ago, he said "why are you here" I said didn't it say on the referral?  He said yes, it show that some Dr think it might be Neurosarcoid.  Then said 'YOU DON'T HAVE NEUROSARCOID'.... this is before he examined me or looked at me at all.  He looked on the computer and said could I please give him a few minutes to look at the file....so he read for a few minutes to himself and we sat there waiting for him.

He then asked if I saw a psyciatric?  I said yes I did, one of the other Neuro from the hospital suggested I go and see one...so I did and told him what that Dr said...that it's "not in my head".... I felt like he was going to give me the brush off like he has previously.... So I said" Aren't you going to exam me???  He said well, of course...

he said to follow him to the exam room, then he noticed how I walk...my left leg is quite heavy and I drag it alot...he said...Wait...could you walk up and down the hallway for me...Sure...then he took me into the exam room...did the tests.. pushed down on my leg and said to keep it still or try too....didn't tell me anything of course...I did fall over on the test where you keep your feet together and close your eyes...

he said I didn't show signs of Nystigma??  I have previously..does this come and go??

while I was getting undress for the exam he went back to his office and said to my husband, well, you live with her...what do you think... My husband said...there is something wrong with her...he lives with me and knows how things have changed....etc...

when I went back to the room, he sure changed his additude, he said I could see another Neuro or he could work on my file and check into things...he said my file has things on it that he has to look up... and can I get a copy of my new MRI sent to him at the end of July...my other GP requested the MRI...

first, he was almost kicking me out...then after the exam...he wants me to come back in Sept..he is away all of Aug... he said I could see another Neuro, but then I'd have to start all over??  So I don't know if he notice something...or what...but now he wants to work with me and my file??  Funny to me??

that's it for now..
take care

thanks for your comments...I really don't know if I should try another Neuro...maybe I will talk to my GP and let him know how it went and see what he thinks too.

I hate to wait for another few months, and then have him tell me nothing again...I did ask this Neuro if there are any tests that I could get done... I didn't mention VEP...I thought he might send me for..but he said no, not yet...wait for the MRI

could my GP send me for those types of tests?? or does a Neuro have to?

also does Nystigma come and go...when he held his finger to the side and said to look at it....it was difficult to look at but he said it didn't show Nystigma..?
thanks for the info..

What a good description of the exam!  I have to tell you that this guy has ALL the wrong instincts with regard to your care.  Now that you have his attention, should you keep seeing him?  That is a conundrum.  Here are my thoughts.

His first instinct is to put you on the defensive about WHY you came to him.  Without any thought his first instinct is to put down whoever thought of neurosarcoid.  It was clear that he had any intention of examining you, but your question pressed him ethically to the wall.

He next instinct is to "Have you FOLLOW HIM to the exam room!!  WRONG!!  The good neurologist learns a great deal by watching you walk!  That is quick info.  Even my evil neuro followed me to the room.

Then when he spoke to you afterward he sort of invited you to see someone else.  Now this could be because he is leaving for a month, but he also could have told you he was interested and scheduled some testing during that time.  I think the guy is lazy and uses his arrogance to cover it up.

My concern with you staying with him is that all of his habits and instincts are wrong.  What if he loses interest or the going gets confusing??  He has done so little, I can't see that you are starting all over from very much.  You and your husband are going to have to read your own gut about this.  Do you think that he now is going to be the neuro that can pull you out of Limbo?

I know I am automatically hard on Neuros.  I usually am elated when the doc finally pays attention, but I get real bad vibes off this guy.  It really is your call.

Oh my goodness, I've got to re-read this. I'm not understanding this Docs ways.  BUT, on 1st read, I'm glad to see he paid attention, just no so sure about you having to start all over! Geesh!

Hey, you actually changed into a robe for this exam? Is that typical? I've never done that w/the Neuro.

Talk to you soon Andie,
So very glad your hubby was there, always nice to have backup
