Is it ok to take antibiotics?

I have got sinusitis and now it feels like bronchitis.  My son and I have been passing this thing back and forth for 10 days.  I went and got him antibiotics 2 days ago but now I am getting worse and am wondering if I need to do the same for me.

How does taking antibiotics effect MS?? Should I notify my neuro or just call my PCP??

Thanks
D

MS is one of the conditions in which you want antibiotics earlier than later.  Most MS docs would rather treat the "possible" bacterial infection fecore it is proven - just in case.  An infection lack this can push you over the neurologic edge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't get into the PCP do to Urgent Care.

The antibiotics have NO - repeat NO - bad effects on MS.  The infection can be horrendous on MS.  There is no trade off - only a yes and a no.

Now go, NOW!!

Ren is right about this one - please get that infection treated by your PCP, and don't let it linger.

To my knowledge antibiotics are not contraindicated at all in MS. Not treating an an infection can cause a relapse so I would call your PCP and ask to be evaluated.

After my recent UTI that was treated with antibiotics I did not call my neuro as  it did not affect any of MS  symptoms in any way. I would only call the neuro if it seems you have new neuro symptoms.

Feel better,
