Wish me luck....

I got a phone call today from my family doctor, he discussed my case with the Director at the clinic (we are military so they do this ) and the director has decided to bypass the MS specialist here in town and send me directly to the Mayo Clinic in FL on the 1st of February.  I am really nervous, but I have heard good things about Dr Shuster there, so I am hopeful for answers.  So wish me luck and hopefully I will have some kind of news when I return!

I wanted to thank you all for being so supportive and answering all of my questions and thank you Quix for helping me with my timeline!  I am a lot more informed this time around and feel more confident about how to talk to the doctor!

You are all great!

I too, am military. I had to change from Tricare Prime to Tricare Standard in order to go to an MS Specialist. I was going to be seen at the Mayo clinic in Scottsdale AZ but was soo "gunshy" after dealing with the Neuros here that I went to Seattle. I have heard great things about the other Mayo clinics. They are thorough. Good luck!!

Best wishes...

LOL, thank you!!  I actually got a Tricare Patient Rep involved when my last episode started because the doctor was not taking me seriously.  She ended up getting me my new doctor and has stayed on his arse this entire time, she is great.
My doctor was not happy with what the general neurologist said so he went to the Director and discussed my case and they both agreed to go ahead and send me down there, so I am happy with that.

I am going to continue reading health pages and posts until I leave to go down there.  This time I will be prepared and organized!!

It's pretty much my last chance to find out what is going on because Tricare will only do so many referrals, so I am crossing my fingers and praying!!

Wow! does TriCare know?  LOL

Congrats on getting on the fast track and out of the military clinic setting.  Obviously they are smart and realize this is more than they can handle.

keep learning more so you can be ready for this appt.

my best,
Lulu

Yep, I cannot believe they are doing it. They initially were going to send me to the specialist here first, but this morning they called and said I was going straight to Mayo. I was shocked!

I will definitely keep you all updated.

Amazing!! The military docs are sending you straight to Mayo?  That is very forward thinking of them.

Good-luck and please let us know how it turns out.

Good luck at The Mayo. I have heard great things about them and you only have to wait 12 days that's fantastic!

I'm glad that you have your timeline and if Quix helped then it's sure to be a good one. That will really help the visit to stay on track.

Hugs,
Erin :)
