Woke up with eye pain @#^@%*^*

I think I jinxed myself. I just commented on someones post a few days ago about ON, and I hoped it wouldn't happen again to me.

Well, here we go, I am pretty sure. My right eye hurts, particularly when I look around. I am praying for conjunctivitis. I will have my boss look at it when I go to work tomorrow. I will not take steroids if it is. It is in the right eye, which is the one that already has vision loss from ON in the past.

I am not happy about this. Heck, I am not happy about much these days. My legs are bad, even my "good" leg is now getting weak. I had to have one of my kids bring a stool over so I could continue making lunch for them and my dad yesterday. I ended up having them all help make the food. (That is a good thing  I know). I just HATE that I am starting to not even do the "simple" things that my life requires.

My dad has been visiting my aunt, who has had MS for at least 30 years. She is in a nursing home, and is really really been affected my this horrible disease. So, my father continues to tell me how bad she is and on and on. I don't want to hear it.

I am getting extremely frustrated these days. I see things progressing, and now with my eye again, I am just getting down and downer. Most days I wish it was at least 40 years from now, so I will be the age that I feel and it will be over soon.

Sorry for this vent, I am just very upset this morning.
Michelle

Michelle,

I am sorry that you have to go through this again. If it makes you feel better, misery loves company, I had 4 episodes of ON last year. I did do the steroids but if I get it again I am going to pass. I just can't take the side effects on top of everything else.

My mother in law is also in a nursing home with MS. She can't get herself out of bed at all and has to have her food cut and drink poured, on and on. I feel bad because I know that she is lonely but my husband and children don't want to visit. I think that they are afraid that it's like looking in to the future for me.

I am feeling the frustration along with you so hang in there and feel free to send me a message anytime you need to vent or want to cry & scream.

Hugs,
Erin :)

Thank you for all your comments. Sorry I am so negative these days. I appreciate all the nice wishes.

Mayperl:  I had the IV steroids Sept, and Dec.  I 'think" for ON, the result is the same, with or without steroids.  It can shorten the time span for the ON, but the end result is the same. So, that is my reasoning. I am just really upset because it is reoccurring in the same eye that already has suffered permanent vision loss.

I will ask doc tomorrow what I can take for the pain.

I am so sorry this as flared up again!  I say "ditto" to what Two pack said.

Sending positive thoughts and hugs to you!!!  And , don't work tomorrow...you're in a flare and standing all day and tiring yourself out can't possibly be good for you, much less the one hour commute.

Again, so sorry this is happening again. I'll do my famous "rain dance" and sprinkle some M&Ms into the ceremony as well.

Sending many comforting hugs!!!

Love,

Ren

Well Michelle this just plain *****.  It does seem that when one thing is going wrong in the MS realm that other things get set off too.  You have certainly had more than your share of a bad luck runs since I've been hanging around here.  STOP IT.

I'll continue to hold positive healthful thoughts for you.

Hi Michelle -

Just curious, why are you set on NOT taking steroids for your ON symptoms? I ask because I had ON really bad in my right eye with pain and no vision for about all of December '09.  I started solu-medrol and taper packets (yes, multiple packets).  In Feb I gained most of my vision back, but not entirely. I do have some permenant damage.

Two weeks ago I complained about a new symptom; burning heat around my abs, back and right thigh. The Neuro started me back on IV fusions of Solu-Medrol... today is my final day.  I do feel less burning, my eye pain is still evident, but I expect after a few weeks my symptoms will lessen again.

I'm just wondering what you experienced with the steroids that makes you feel this way.

Sorry to hear your frustration. I completely understand about coming to terms with how this disease takes away certain skills and abilities we once had... and didn't think twice about, before.

Sorry you're not feeling well, neighbor.  I know that you know that you've just shared those feelings with many people who have been through a lot of the same.  We'll pray for relief, but also for understanding on the part of those closest to you.
