anyone live in the same area as me?

Hi to everyone! Just wondering if there was any one around me who knows of anything ms related that I could attend. Everyone on this forum are the only people I know through this disease.

I live in Frisco tx. Just thought I'd ask. Prayers to all!

LOL - I am getting sloppy with some of those details, Kyle.  The same concept works ,though - check out the websites and do a bit of research for the area you live in.

Thanks Sandy! I was very emotional at the beg. Of my dx too. Actually about the first yr. Things are so much better these days. Just wish I had people ,lose to me Thst I could talk to in person about ms stuff. :)

My mom tried to get me to go to an Ampyra conference here. I rejected it immediately when I saw that it was a drug company and I felt like it would be premature for me to go since I haven't been diagnosed. I poo poo'd it. Maybe I was afraid that I would jinx myself. I was also afraid to hear about MS and see people that actually had it. I was scared.

Now I wish I went so I could learn more and might have met someone in the same boat as me. It doesn't hurt to learn more about it, even if I don't ever get diagnosed.

I guess we all need to deal with it in our own ways. It was still too new of a scare for me at that time.  I was too emotional. I'm a very emotional person these days.

that's a great question, Diggie.  Connecting with others living with MS does help to make sense on this MiSerable experience.

here are my suggestions -

check with your NMSS chapter about any ongoing support groups

check each of the drug mfg sites for live programs.  These are usually either lunch or dinner and include a talk by a local expert.  I go to as many of these as  I can and you don't have to be using their drugs to attend.

The two most active pharmas right now in promoting their products are Novartis (gilenya) and Acorda (Ampyra).  Expect to see ramped up patient events from Biogen once BG-12 is approved and from EMD Serono for their new MS drug.
