Tricare (Military) Insurance and Multiple Sclerosis Medications

HELLO EVERYONE.

SORRY FOR WRITING IN ALL CAPS BUT MY EYES HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE LATELY AND IT SEEMS EASIER TO

READ LIKE THIS AND DOUBLE SPACED.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF TRICARE (MILITARY) INSURACEN COVERS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS MEDICATIONS?

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ONLINE AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING SAYING IT DOES OR DOESN'T.  AFTER

MY PCP DIAGNOSED ME I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET EVERYTHING STRAIGHTENED OUT.  I KNOW WE

CAN'T AFFORD THE STUFF WITHOUT INSURANCE COVERING IT.  JUST WORRIED IT ALL.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER ONLINE AND AM JUST FRUSTRATED THAT I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP ANYONE CAN GIVE.

VICTORIA

I have TRICARE and so far no issues with my MEDs.  I get my meds (rebif) from the local Walgreens instead of the base pharmacy.  I only pay 9.00 per month for the Rebif.

The only issue that I can see with TRICARE is the referrals to my Neuro.  I have to remeber to call my Primary Care doctor every 6 months to renew my referral.  I called TRICARE to see if they could give me a longer referral since this is a disease that I am going to have for the rest of my life and they told me they can only do 6 month referrals.

You can also get your meds from Express Script and they will send you three months of Rebif and the cost will be 9.00 for 3 months.  Express Script is great because they send me my Zolof every three months and I don't even call them to refill.  The cost of my Zolof is 3.00 for three months.

So far TRICARE has been great with everything--I could not ask for a better insurance company.  I was afraid that things would get bad when my husband retired from the military but I have seen no changes in our coverage.

I forgot to add something important...If you are under Tricare because your spouse is active duty it is required that you report to the EFMP program on post if you are diagnosed with MS.

Tricare covers all of my MS stuff....The oral meds, the DMD, doctors visits, tests....compared to the struggles of a lot of people with their insurance we are blessed to have tricare. So do not freak out or stress about it, you are likely covered for anything you need.
