being diagnosed

hi to al whom have been following my journey through the past few months, i was diagnosed last friday with rr ms,i had suspected this all along as my mother had ms and my brother has ms,we all  are still finding it hard to believe 3 people in same family unit could have the same illness like this one i have 2 other brothers and 1 sister who at the moment are doing fine with their health,i also have really bad psoriatic arthritis my hand and feet are deformed quite badly i was doing great on a med called reacide it took away all my pain i had to stop this as soon as the numbness sarted back in march pain returned imediately i am on antinflamitorys only just now, the nuero wants me to see a specialist rematologist on 1 sept to discuss a med which slows down ms relapses and also slows down arthritis so at the moment i have to stay as calm as possible and wait until then, the hardest thing i am finding at the moment is the faces of friends who hear i have ms when they see me they look at me as though i am going to die, i am in a good place just now mentally and i reasure them that i will be fine i have a positive attitude at the moment this is not going to get me down for my sons sake i have to be strong thanks to all of you on this forum you have all been a great support and i am sure you will continue to be so thanks x

Hey Maggs,
We chatted last week about your dx - it still stinks but I know you will get through this too.  Your post caught my attention because my mother has psoriatic arthritis - I have not heard of anyone else with this condition before now.

She is on injections of ENBREL - I don't know if that is available in the UK.  I also suspect she has MS, but haven't pushed that issue with her - at the age of 85 that's the last thing she wants to hear.  Her sister had MS, and that is my closest confirmed genetic link.

Early September will come pretty quick - try to find some relaxing ways to pass the time.

My best,
Lulu

Hi Maggs,

Confirmed huh Maggs...take your time.  Though you suspected, your still entitled time to sink in fully.

Here for you,

Hi there,
I am so sorry to hear that you have MS but I guess there must be some relief with now having an answer but also like so many that are newly diagnosed I am sure there will be a down period as well.  I guess if you have been in limbo for a long time there must be nice to know finally what is wrong... sorry if I am wording this the wrong way.

I guess if you had some idea it is not such a shock, I would imagine if the diagnosis was to come out of the blue it would be difficult.  Friends are afraid as they don't have the information, maybe embarrassed too, many people have no idea what MS really is and does.

Take care of yourself, I hope you have a good rheumy and a good neurologist.  Thinking of you, I am sure there will be plenty of Msers on this forum to support you,

Udkas
