Hi Everyone,
I met with my new neurologist in July I believe, and b/c I have had the diagnosis of Celiac Disease for the past 2 years, he wanted to be sure the neurological symptoms weren't from the Celiac...my new gastro doctor retested the celiac and concluded the neurological symptoms were not related. SO, I go back to see the neuro tomorrow morning. I have been on this roller coaster ride since 2007, that I know of and I'm to the point, after this last flare up that enough is enough.
Last year I had a normal brain MRI and suspicious spinal MRI that when redone was ruled normal as well as bloodwork. Have ruled out many things including Lyme. Do you think I should go tomorrow asking to redo MRI's since it has been a year? What other tests would you recommend I insist on? This last flare up that ended last week had new symptoms I haven't had before. Numbness and tingling have seemed to spread to new areas.
QUESTION...Is it possible to have many flare ups in a year...how long do they typically last. I'm asking because when I first met this neurologist, he looked at my symptoms and time line and said he typically doesn't see those with MS having so many flare ups....some were just a month apart or several weeks, others longer. Over the summer I had what I felt was a flare up that lasted several days and then I was good until the week before last. It lasted a week. I always have some sort of symptom, but I could clearly notice a difference, serious fatigue, weakness, pain behind my right eye, left leg from toes to hip were pins and needles, leg stiff, I had a limp, fingers up to my shoulder (again on left side) were pins and needles and it spread to my trunk, shock feeling seemed to trigger it all.
Sorry so long, but I truly appreciate your advice!
Blessings to all of you!
Stacie
