Accelerated Cure Project update

It's been a while since I have posted this research news so here it is in case you are not familiar with this group:

Accelerated Cure Project is an active repository of data and blood samples from MS patients and their matched controls (siblings, parents, spouses) if possible.  These samples are meticulously collected at sites across the US and then are shared with researchers who are looking to unlock all the MySteries of this disease.

The collection involves people with MS, NO, ADEM and ON - all those demyelinating diseases that seem to chart a common course.  It involves a rather lengthy questionaire about medical history and environmental factors and the collection of blood samples.

There is no charge to participate in this project.  I'm thinking DV flew in to the east coast from Alberta, CA to contribute.  Other than her, who else here is part of this?  I'm in as well as two of my sisters who went as controls.

If you are curious as to what labs  have requested samples and the work they are doing, you can find it all on their website.  This work is taking place all over the world.

Please consider helping - they currently have over 2600 enrollees but are actively looking for more to expand the data base.

A number of new collection centers have been added and here is the updated list:

The visit takes about an hour or so.  They will send you the questionaire in advance and you can work through the answers - it took me several hours to do because it involves lots of dates.

There are a number of tubes of blood they draw, but it all comes from the same stick, so that should not be a problem.

Thanks for doing this - we can contribute in some way or another and this is a great way to help.
hugs, Lulu

Thanks for the info Lulu... I am a patient at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Multiple Sclerosis Center
Boston, MA

They gave me a form asking if I would be interested in a study at my last visit... I did agree!  I am heading back in there in september and will check out this site before I go to see if they can draw my blood at that visit.
