does any one else suffer from daily MS Attacks?

My partner has been diagnosed with MS for 16 yrs now. She is 46.
Recently she has been suffering with daily attacks for a period of around 3 mnths, with these attacks she cant walk, her speach is extremly slurred whilst the attacks are presant. this is really affecting her mental health state as her moods get really low. can any one shed any light on this plz? does any one else have similar experiance, an is she likely 2 start recovering from this. we would be gratefull for any advice, as she is understanderbly worried that this is how she is goiung 2 spend the rest of her life.

Hi there...No its MS attacks not the TN, she has not had a TN attack 4 2yrs now, the gamma knife seemed 2 be succsesful.

The MS attacks affect her speach and she is unable 2 transfer safely out ov her wheelchair, she tends 2 get very wobbly, her legs wont work at all an usually resulting in her banging her head on the bathroom wall when doing toilet transfers ect..i would say they are more spells, they can come on in the morning or evening, sometimes both, occasionally all day, were trying 2 work out if there is a pattern 2 what fetchs them on.

thanks for the well wishes
Hugs ant stregnth to all

Hello there, welcome from me, too.

I'm newly diagnosed, just starting on Avonex (Interferon beta 1a), and have spent the last almost two years learning much and gaining caring support from this forum.

I also have Trigeminal Neuralgia, though not so bad as Di!  I only have to take Tegretol when it flares up, though one of my neighbors just underwent the gamma knife treatment and is very happy with it's results, though she still has a few lesser attacks.

Is her medication being reduced because of the test results?  I would think that such high doses of both those meds could worsen her symptoms, and if she's improving with some reduction, then that is a good sign.  She can discuss with her doctor whether reducing her Tegretol even more would be helpful in reducing her symptoms further, without having her TN pain flare up.

As for the stress of ending a long term relationship, even an unhappy one, making things worse, its very possible; stress has been known to exacerbate symptoms.  It does seem that she's doing better on the lower dose of Tegretol, so perhaps she's coming out of the relapse, or the Tegretol was causing problems, or both.  Let's just hope she continues to improve!

I'm glad to hear that she has a kind partner that's willing to learn more about what she's going through and be there for her.  Having someone that truly cares and is supportive helps immensely.

Very nice to meet you!

Hi mand125 and ShadowsSister.
Thanks for the welcome.

Diane is on beta interferon she has been on these injectoins for 10yrs now.
She also takes tegratol retard 400mg 3 tablets twice daily, plus gabapentin 400mg 2 twice daily.
Her tests show that she is caromenzapine intoxicated as normal levels should be between 4-10 were as hers is 15.5.

Her Neuro suggested it may well be a new relapse,
Diane has also been sick everyday 4 the last 3mnths, were unsure if this is due 2 the medication or the relapse, although the sickness is subsiding now since she reduced her tablets buy 200mg each dose.

Just out of curiosity could a break up from a long term relationship cause a relapse?, i seem 2 think this may be the case.
Although she was unhappy with her former partner i think maybe she missed the familiararity of things i understand routine is important when dealing with an illness.
Diane and I have been freinds for alot of yrs before we became partners, so although i dont know everything about her illness yet, i have still been through alot with her.

Just 2 let you know abit more about her, Di has Trigeminal Neuroalgia. treatment she recieved for this was gamma knife, plus takes the tegratol, alothough since the gamma knife treatment she only had 2 attacks frm this, leaving me to belive that the treatment worked an that maybe she doesn't need the tegratol Retard at all, but hey I'm no doctor.

Thanks for your kind words  Sherb an Di  :-)

Hi, It sounds like  relasp, there is really no way of knowing how long it can last. Is she seeing her MS Doctors and getting test done.???
The more information you can pass on the clearer the picture will be for us.
I am so sorry she is having so much trouble, but we are here for both of you.
Hugs on the winds  from me to the two of you. {{{{~!~}}}} DJ

Hi there and may I be the first to welcome you. I can't really answer your question but you will get much help on this forum from people with lots more knowledge than I.

Just out of interest I have been going through a relapse now for a little over two months, I am certainly getting better day by day so there is hope! I must admit that at first I thought that I was not going to recover from this one.

Is your partner on any DMDs (disease modifying drugs?).
