MRI Results

What do these results mean?  Could it be MS?

FINDINGS: The ventricular and cisternal spaces are normal for age. No intracranial mass or extra-axial
fluid collection is seen. Several tiny foci of chronic signal abnormality are present in the cerebral
white matter and a double significance. No acute ischemia is present.

The paranasal sinuses are clear. Normal flow-related signal is seen in the major intracranial vessels.

I went to the ER in june with dizziness, inability to walk, throwing up and room spinning.  Was diagnosed with a severe case of Vertigo.  I have concerns because I am experiencing ringing in ears, arm, hand, finger and foot tingling and numbness, blurred vision, pressure in my left eye, muscle weaknesses, slurred speech, bladder control and urgency, bowel problems (constipation and urgency), sweet taste in mouth, forgetful, and fatigued.  Some of these syptoms have been present for years, but they would come and go so I didn't think it was a concern.

Thank you so much for responding.  I went to the emergency room in June because I had blurred vision, dizziness, room spinning and was throwing up.  I had never experienced anything like this and was terrified.  I have had MRI in the past after I had my now 12 year old because my left side went numb after she was born.  Since the epidural went wrong I thought it had something to do with that so I disregarded their request to see a neurologist.  I have an appointment on Monday with a neurologist and am very nervous.  My symptoms all lead to MS.  I have good and bad days, but everyday is a challenge.  Any advice on questions I should ask the neurologist is appreciated.  Diabetes runs in my family, and I had gestational diabetes with my last two children, but so far all tests are negative for diabetes.  Thanks again for responding.  Any advice is appreciated.

Hello there and welcome to the forums where I hope you find the support and empathetic ear this place is known for.

I'm sorry of your experiences you have been having.

I'm not a neuroradioligist and/or radiologist but it does state "chronic" punctate foci of abnormal signal which leads me to believe in order for the radiologist to come to that conclusion of "chronic" that means he/she had something to compare it to (ie: like a previous MRI?).  If you have had MRIs before then I can understand his medical terminology -- if not I do not understand.

What appears to be a good sign is that there's no increase in lesions or abnormal signal.

I assume since you've been having these neurological issues, that you have seen a Neurologist?  Who ordered the MRI to begin with? (The recent one you've posted the results)?

Obviously with your type of symptoms it would make a person wonder if they have MS, especially if the report states that the lesions of abnormality could be due to vascular, demyelination, etc. causes.

If you're not seeing a Neurologist, I would encourage you to do so.  This way you can be in the "right" hands of specialty.regarding your symptoms.

What does your primary physician say?  Does he/she want to refer you to a Neurologist or have suggested to do so?  Did you have other diagnostic and/or laboratory tests done?

Again, I would like to welcome you to the forums -- I am glad you have shared your experiences with us.

I know others will eventually chime in.

Oh by the way, our famous Quix has contributed many, many health pages regarding testing, symptoms, etc on our health care pages.  You can find them here:
