Arm heavyness

I am having trouble getting a diagnosis after four years. I have 2 non specific brain lesions and evidence of optic neuritis found in a vision study. My neurologist wants to do another lumbar puncture since I haven't had one in nearly 4 years.
My main problems are with my arms - they are heavy, and feel very fatigued. My left lower leg and left side of my face are also stiff.
My arms are so heavy that if I had the same feelings in my legs I would certainly be in a wheelchair.
I'm wondering whether anyone else has more problems with their arms than legs?

I believe my neuro thinks I may have primary progressive MS, and I know that's difficult to diagnose with only MRI. I don't think she wants to give me that diagnosis unless she is absolutely sure.
This started in my mid 40s and has been a very slowly progressing illness. I have seen other neurologists. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's at one time but that has been ruled out.

Hi, Hailey. Certainly some people have significant arm problems. Leg issues are much more common, but that's all.

What I think you need is a new neuro, if the current one is still in wait and see mode. And especially if he or she won't diagnose without an LP that indicates MS. A positve LP gives weight to a diagnosis of MS, but is NOT a requirement. Many neuros are forgoing that invasive procedure altogether.

Wishing you well,

Yes my last relapse affected my arms...particularly the left arm and hand.  I have had symptoms for 4 years as well with more than 8 lesions.  I am currentely awaiting my VEP and ssep results.  This was the first time my arms have been affected though...usually it is more my legs.

As I am left handed it was really worrying to me that I might not regain my strenghth but after 6 months I am pleased to say it has although I still get numbness and weakness in the hand from time to time.

I am dx with possible MS at this stage and have hyperreflexia in my legs.
