Do you get short of breath when you stand up after sitting? Does your neck feel like you have a coathanger wrapped around it? Does your heartrate shoot up when you stand up?
It sounds like orthostatic hypotension to me - basically it's when your body isn't able to equalize your blood pressure, and you start getting dizzy and lightheaded when you stand up. Shortness of breath is also common.
I went through about four months with this symptom. Oddly it was worst in the mornings, when I was trying to get ready for work, and better in the evenings.
I have a friend who had this for a while - she went through the tilt table test and it made her faint.
I'm glad that you have an appointment coming up soon. Your symptoms sound like they would be exhausting to cope with.
I hope the doc has news and treatment & you are feeling better soon!
Hugs,
Erin :)
Sorry to hear you're having problems, mm. I will pray that these docs find and fix the cause of this right away.
hi susan i do have an m.s neuro i am working with but i did not tell him of this prob as it has recently became worse and i have not seen him in a while. i do have an appt. at the end of sept. my dr. i aware and he said i am to young for stenosis but thought we should do an ultrasound of my neck arteries anyways i will se him this week for the results.yes you are righjt the whooshing is much worse on the left side. will keep you updated thanks for the message. mar
Mary,
make an appt with a neurologist asap.
The whoshing sound is caused by compression of blood vessels in the upper neck up under the chin where they are near the ear and facial nerve.
You also need to have your carotid arteries checked for blockage.
Is the whooshing worse on the L side?
