A little bit of whats goin on with me

Im in the middle of a flare up I think. 2 Days before christmas I caught a horrible cold. 2 days after Christmas the cold was at its worse. I stayed in bed all day. I hadnt been sick like that from a cold in quite some time. As the days passed (the week after Christmas) I wasnt gettin any better really. My cold symptoms left but I was still sick. On Monday (the 4th I think) I woke up with blurred vision and couldnt walk from the stiff pain in my feet. My mom took me to the hospital and I was admitted for 5 days. Upon my admittance I learned I had a UTI. Which surprised me because I couldnt remember havin any symptoms. when I was discharged they did another urine test and said there was no bacteria and the infection was gone. I was discharged on saturday the 9th and went to my first follow up with my primary care Dr. the following tuesday. I explained to him that I still thought I had the UTI because when I had the urge to go to the bathroom I would sit on the toilet a good 30 seconds before anything came out. And its not like havin the urge and only peeing a little. I have the urge, sit on the toilet, wait a good half a minute then I pee a regular amount. They tested my urine and he said I still had a UTI and prescribed some antibiotics. Well its been a week since then and im still having the same symptoms. Mind you im still in the middle of a flare up. Unable to walk, balance issues, fatigue and blurred vision. I just wonder if the whole UTI thing is related.

To Prettymomma

I have had exactly the same symtoms I had UTI a few days ago and altered urune output and retention and I am still suffering.

I looked through my journel and there is a pattern I am in a flare and every time this comes about only i didnt reconise it.

Constipation runs side by side with the UTI and gastric disturbance, My left eye is affected with pain and blurred vision burning toes, pain in upper single arm and numbness.

I have spoken with another forum member and she too noted the UTI occuring when in flare.

Take care tarte

I can relate.  One year I had four UTIs and trouble that you mentioned about getting the urine to flow.  I think that this caused the UTIs in the first place.  I still have this problem on occasion, and it is related to the MS.  UTIs are to be avoided because they can spark an attack.

Talk with your doctor about this to see what you can do about the problem to try to reduce the number of UTIs, and make sure you're getting plenty of water--which can be hard to do if you're experiencing all these problems.  Sometimes, I will gently push on my bladder, which will help a little.  Some people will also have to catherterize, which they say is not as bad as it sounds (I wouldn't know, though).
