Hi Amanda - Welcome to the Amateur Radiologists of America :-)
As Lisa said we are not doctors, just folks who have MS and who are trying to find out id they have MS. What you posted as Impressions sounds more like what you would see in the Findings section of a radiology report. The Impressions section usually mentions possible causes for the Findings. This includes references to ischemia, demyelination or other causes. Radiologists are not diagnosticians and will not state anything definitively.
The way I read your post it sounded like you have spoken with your neuro after he/she had the radiology findings. If this is the case it's as much your fault as their's that you didn't get any information. You have to be your own health care advocate. You cannot let doctors get away with being unresponsive. I you can't get the information you want from a doctor then find a new doctor. I did not like the first MS specialist I saw, so I found another one.
Welcome to our lesion rich environment :-)
Kyle
Hi Amanda,
Welcome to the forums. I hope you can find solace for your grief, frustration and/or anxiety. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum. However, keep in mind that we can not diagnose or offer medical advice.
I do not understand why your Neurologist did not tell you anything? Did you happen to get the report before the Neurologist? Perhaps he/she was not able to review your MRI yet? I do not know the particulars save for you received your report and the results of the Neuroradiologists findings. What was the "impression" statement on the bottom of the report? It's like a quick synopsis of the findings and projecting what could have caused lesions ie: history of headaches, vascular, etc.?
This is imperative that you discuss these findings with your Neurologist. I dont know if you had an appointment with him/her and they did not tell you anything with your MRI results or did you not go to see your Neurologist yet? I would need some blanks filled in before I can encourage you to do anything (self advocacy).
My opinion is to call and make an appointment with your Neurologist so you can go over your MRI results and explain to you what the findings mean. I do not know your health history or what brought you to the Neurologist in the first place.
Please let us all know what's what and we are here to provide emotional support and with some experienced people here, provide guidance.
Again, welcome to the forums.
Lisa
