Maggs,
This story helped me get through my LP with a smile on my face! It is from a member on this forum so I am not going to share her name so I do not embarass her further! :) Thanks to the original author of this COLORFUL TRIBUTE you shared!
Janette
"I had it done under fluoroscope at a small hospitol. I was on a big table face-down with an open gown, exposing not only my back, but my colorful drawers as well. I didn't want to swear, so I just sang the Star Spangled Banner, loudly. The table was hooked up to some hydraulics or something so they could tilt it, which they needed to do to drain enough fluid out of me.
So there I was, plus-sized purple panties sticking out, rocking back and forth, singing a tribute to the USA."
Its crazy what we can watch on youtube, isn't it? Good for you to be prepared and know in advance what the doctor will be doing - I had no problem with my LP.
Keep in mind that the lp won't guarantee you a dx, it will just add one more piece of evidence to the growing stack that may or may not clinch the deal.
you'll do fine with your positive attitude,
Lulu
Hi maggs - Tuesday it is then!
We are here for you....now no more watching it on you tube ya hear!!!!!!!!!! lol...
Glad you are excited to get it over and done with. Was the LP ordered under flouroscopy? If you don't know, I would call the place and ask.
After it's all said and done, lay longer then they suggest and don't go up and down flights of stairs, carry things, etc. This will minimize your chance of a leak.
See you on the flip side!
Mackemuk-Joe, nice to see you!

It took three weeks because my Dr. likes to go over it in person and he is really busy. Then another three weeks for follow up blood work to rule out other illnesses.
it took me a few weeks to get my results...I think it really varies...
good luck and take it easy...

Hi Maggs
I Am From The North East Of England Not Far From Your Goodself.
I Had My LP On The 1st April Last Year And My Results Were Thru First Week In May,
So It's Not To Bad Is It.
When I Had My LP I Really Didn't Feel A Thing Honestly But I Must Admit I Was Layed Up For 5 Days With Spinal Headaches.
I Would Take Advice Of Previous Posts And Drink Lots Of Fluid. Stay Flat On Your Back
And Take Things Very Easy.
Keep Us Informed Of Your Results And Take Care.
Regards Joe.
P.S My Results Showed Positive For O Bands And Raised Protein.
Hi Maggs,
It takes a long time for the results of the oligoclonal banding to come back from what I experienced.
The other tests came in fairly quickly, thought I have to say Janette's facility should win a prize - a week is mighty fast!
What day do you go? So we can cheer you on!
hi thanks sounds more promising than 2 months will let everyone know as soon as i do.
Maggs,
It really depends on the location doing the analysis. I had my results in a week. Hope the procedure goes well for you. Keep us posted.
