mri results

My 2 yr. old had thought she was superman and went head first into the corner of my entertainment center, which comes to a very sharp point. She had split her forehead open and was rushed to er. Well they didn't scan her or suture her. They just through the dermabond on and sent her home. Well, sense then she was having onset head pains. And now she had an MRI and the radiologist said that she has flair intensity on several different parts of her brain. Can anyone tell me what that means?

Acute trauma? Gliosis? Those are guesses...things that arise from an external insult like that. Sounds like the initial treatment should have been a lot more than super glue.

The doc will really have to tell you. BUT...as a kind of salve (?), young brains are extremely resilient. Hopefully, any damage can be ameliorated or worked around thanks to the plasticity of the young brain.

One of the doctors wrote me and he said that it sound s like she has some brain injury but he couldn't tell how severe without seeing the mri. I'm still waiting for her to get into the neurologist. It's crazy.

Hi there,

YOu must be so very afraid.  I'm sorry for what has happened. I remember when mine were little, they'd give me heart failure w/their falls, etc.  I'm also sorry we cannot interpret what this flair intensity could mean for your daughter.  What we can do though, is be here w/you while you wait to find out.

Are you still with us? Has the Dr. said anything yet.  And, if not, call them up, keep up the pressure.

I really hope your daughter is going to be ok and that you find out right away.

Be well,
Shelly
