Brainstem lesion with nausea and vertigo

Relentless all day nausea and vertigo with this lesion! I am on Compazine, Valium, and meclizine but nothing really helps! It is worse when I close my eyes, but it is there all of the time. Anybody have this?  What do yo do?

I had vertigo for 3 months straight. I know just how miserable you are.  Tom's tips were very similar to mine except I had to keep my head in one position or I would fall over.

The elevated head and sleeping in the recliner are good ideas. I also used a feather pillow to hold my head in position while I slept so I wouldn't have so much spinning even with my eyes closed.

The only med that made any difference was Klonopin which is a longer acting benodiazopine than Valium, although Valium is considered the drug of choice for this condition.

I hope you feel better soon and the misery is quickly a faded memory!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is one of the worst feelings I have ever experienced so I can only imagine how you feel......

Some things that worked for me (not sure if they will work for you though): 1) I slept elevated for about 5 months. This helped me not feel as dizzy the next day..... 2) I spent a lot of time in my reclining chair at just the right angle for my head. This helped things to not spin as much.... 3) When things weren't spinning so bad, I moved my head as much as possible. The doctor told me this would help to settle things down (and it did seem to for me.)

These things might seem futile to you as you go through this but I hope that they help. If not, I hope you find something that does. Stupid vertigo!!!

Best,

Tom

I have no advice but am going through this myself right now... I'm just trying to rest as much as possible.

I keep wondering if it's not MS related, but maybe perimenopause
