ms and tmj

I am a 31 yr old female who was diagnosed w/multiple sclerosis in 2005. I have had a couple of relaspes since, however,I have full recovered. Two months ago,I was rushed to the hospital in excruciating just to be diagnosed again. Only this time it was tmj. My question is is tmj more severe to a person with ms as to a person without? The pain from the ms is pretty bad, however, can be managed. Where as the pain in regards to the tmj is unbarable! It literally takes my breath away. Someone please help me find an answer to this...

You might want to read a little bit about trigeminal neuralgia and see if any of it sounds familiar. From what I've read, it is frequently misdiagnosed as TMJ. I'd hate to see you suffer without treatment if there's more that can be done for your pain.

Hi Ms. Cinnamon!

Thank you for joining us.  This has come up in the past, so I searched out community and found this excellent discussion regarding TN, TMJ, some differences, etc.
Hope it's helpful to you, and I do hope you find something to relieve your pain - I've read so much where it's horrifyingly painful.

When you are feeling better, would love to know how your disease course has been since you were dx'd in 05. If you are on a disease modifier and how you are getting along (despite this problem).
See you around!

Where exactly is your pain? I have trigeminal neuralgia which can be mistaken as TMJ. That was one of the things I had to have ruled out before I received my diagnosis of TN.
