hi Trve and welcome to this place -we have lots of information for you here - this MiSerable disease is a lot to take in and understand. Be sure to tackle small bits at a time.
On the upper left side of this page you will see a yellow icon for our Health Pages. These are written by the members here and will help for you to understand a bit more about MS.
the index for the HP's can be accessed at

And so many of the people here are experts in their own way about this disease and willing to share advice.
As for the remitting part of RRMS, it is hard to project when these relapses will end. The same with the remissions - their timing is a mystery, too. I believe you need to be symtom free for about 30 days before it is considered a new relapse - it sounds to me like this is a continuation of the same relapse.
It would be unusual for your to have SPMS immediately - it is mainly the natural progression of RRMS.
here is the link to the HP for this very question

Don't read too much into whether the steroids helped or not - you will make yourself crazy with that question. Did you contact your neurologist about these problems? That is where I would go next.
I hope we will see you around here- I'm sorry that you have this disease, it really st inks.
be well, Lulu
