I don't know here you live but most places have a Walmart. Whenever you see a doctor and they prescribe and antibitotic tell them you need it from the $4 list. We always refer to this list prior to writing scripts whenever we can depending upon the organism we are treating.
thanks quix for the advice about my rx... i actually did check with my dr's office yesterday and hopefully by monday i will have a more affordable med to take. i didnt realize you could just purchase a portion of your meds though so that will be helpful, my husband will try that when he gets off work. thank you :)
The doctor blew you off!!!! This is so like my first experience, didn't read the films, only read the radiologist report.
Can you find a neurologist that works within a group of doctors? That sometimes helps.
You have to find someone who will listen to you!!!
You might want to call the 'bad neurologist's' office and tell them that you want a copy of everything that is in your file. Be sure to ask for a discharge summary as well as any progress notes etc. My hunch is that there isn't much paperwork. And based on the given diagnosis he/she gave you or didn't give you write a letter to the board that he belongs to expressing your concerns and inform them that he failed to diagnose/treat you. It may at least help you feel that you did something.
Anyway, let us know how you are doing in this process. You didn't deserve to be blown off!
I went to a Dr. like that once. The best thing she did was dismiss me. The next Neurologist looked at her notes and shook his head and muttered something not nice.

Ummmm....can we all say, "She blew you off," in unison? We all need a neurologist who is interested in us, who believes us and who ACTS ON OUR BEHALF. Show this weenie the curb and find someone new. Yes, I agree that being uninsured is working against you, but it won't with a truly good doctor - which she isn't. Not reading the report carefully and discussing it with you was unconscionable! Plus rude and mean and lazy, if not avaricious. And low-class and unethical and....and....
See if you can get a copy of the "Culture and Sensitivity" of your UTI and then see if there are any meds on it that are cheaper and come in a generic form that show activity against the bacteria that is causing your UTI. The pharmacist can point these out. Then ask your primary to prescibe one of them. Usually there are more than on option - not always but it is worth the checking.
In the meantime you can purchase just enough pills to take you through the weekend until you can get the info. You can ALWAYS purchase just a portion of your meds.
Post the report here so we can all comment on it and show you what a dufus this weenie neuro is.

I got a call that i have urinary tract inf. and my rx is going to cost me 174 b/c no insurance. my husbands job doesnt offer insurance and it is soooo expensive and now that i have been pre diagnosed with this i cant even get anyone to cover me. uugghh!
I am not insured either so i totally understand how that would frustrate you, it frustrates me just to hear that this happens.
Not having insurance makes it so hard, but when my first neuro took a quick look at my scans without discussing them with me, I got a new neuro that was interested in sharing MY issues with me.
A good neuro will not go by the report so much as they go by what they see themselves on the film. You poor dear. I hope you can find a good neuro. Hang in there and know we are here for you

this sounds like an appt that many of us have had here on the forum. Your in Limboland and waiting for answers. What did the Neuro say about seeing her again?? Did she say you need more tests?
Have you been tested for other mimics, blood tests for autoimmune Dx? This can be very frustrating for people and we understand how you feel.
hang in there and let us know how thing progress..
take care
