Hi, and another, belated welcome to the forum! You said they did an MRI of your brain and spine and it showed lesions. Did the report say that MS should be considered?
How old are you?
How did they prove that the numbness in your hands was Carpal Tunnel? Did they do an EMG, so just tell you that was what it was?
We can say anything about what has caused your lesions. Yes, there are many diseases other than MS that cause brain lesions, but far fewer that also cause spine lesions.
Try not to get too worked up yet. Until all of the tests are run, nobody knows if this is MS or not. And, MS is not the death sentence or the wheelchair that the public pictures. Many people continue to live their pretty normal lives with MS for many, many decades.
If the numbness in your hands was truly carpal tunnel, then you can't really have MS without symptoms. Sometimes people get their MRI before any symptoms have shown up. That is called a Radiographically Isolated Syndrome. At that point, the work up is done for the things that are known to cause lesions and, if they are negative, you have to wait.
I hope you stay and let us know what is happening.

Hi frankieboy and welcome to the forum here. Plain answer- this is not a simple disease to diagnose because there are so many mimics. You could have MS but then again it could be one of many other causes of brain lesions.
What have the doctors proposed next for you in the way of tests and exams?
welcome again - I hope to see you around with more questions.
be well,
Lulu
