Hi

Was reading this post and came across that you changed professions to work with the elderly, i miss my job so much i used to work with the elderly have done ever since coming out of collage, i worked in hospitals, nursing homes but my favioute job i had was working in the community with the over sixtys and like you dealt with lots of peolpe with neuroloigial disorders, i built up relationships with them, i miss those caring years it was apart of me, now i walk with two sticks i go out in a wheelchair if i go shopping its ironic that after caring for people for 14 years that at 32 it would happen to me!!

I am in limbo land have been for nearly a year having tests and nothing has come up i'v had a clear MRI of the brain and spine, clear emg and still waiting for my LP results which has taken 7 weeks so far and getting a lumber MRI results on wednesday hopefully, i just want an answer to why i am ill it did not build up it hit me suddenly though i had had vague sx since 2000, but have been off 7 months from work now and trying to get disabilty which is hard without a dx and getting a disabled badge in the UK is hard without a dx too.

I've also been pushed out of a job at a day centre because i tried to change things a sthey were not treating the clinets well at all and they had alzemiers so could not voice their complaints themselves, they made my life hell there and i left to go and work for a company that i knew i could make a difference and was there untill i got sick!!

I hope you get this post i might paste it and put it as a separate post, so sorry if you read it twice.

That Heather keeps on making me blush!!!  I just want everyone to know that I came on to this site by accident and at the time I was desperate for some sort of support, I knew that if I didn't get it that I was soon to crash and burn.

I must say that beside's Heather's support, all of your support and caring and to be honest being able to try and help others has saved the day for me!  I have been in healthcare in one form or another for quite awhile.

I started as a receptionist for a Urologist many years ago and I pretty much decided then that working with seniors was where I wanted to go (either that or professional hockey players as I was assisting with vasectomies at the time) tee hee  Anyway, after that it was a long time and a lot of different jobs before I was able to get back into healthcare.  I even sold Cherries and Corn out of the back of my truck for two summers and I loved meeting all the people!

Then I went to college and got my computer degree and got a job in support services in a long term care hospital of all places!  I was in heaven!  It was a very busy job and I really enjoyed it until the politics started and then it was stress, stress and more stress!  Working with the residents did help but I knew that my health was not going to hold up so I moved on.

I then got a job as a client coordinator at a home health care company where I was able to deal with both the nursing assistant's and the clients to ensure that they were both giving and receiving the care they required.  I absolutely loved it and as a lot of client's were either elderly or stricken with MS it was right up my alley!  However, it lasted only up until I got sick last February and the management of the company did everything they could to make my life miserable.  Let's just say that I would never have a member of my family looked after by them...if they treat employee's like they treated me, I would be scared to leave a loved one in their care.

So here I am...back in "healthcare" again!!  I hope that I can help people here and I won't hesitate to ask help of you if I need it like last Saturday???  I tend to have a few breakdown's here and there and it is wonderful to be able to talk to someone on here and have them talk some sense into me and calm me down.  I promise to do my best to help anyone here if I can and if I can't I will find someone who can...Heather and Quix are a great help and if they don't know the answer...well, we will take it from there!

Thank you again for all your kudo's and I don't know that I deserve it all...I am just doing what feels right to me and hopefully will help to guide someone in the right direction and maybe put a smile on their face.

Lot's of Hugs for Everyone,

Well that is certainly good news!

I understand that you are frustrated and that seems to be a normal feeling around here.  I do have a few questions though...Are you seeing a Neurologist right now or is the doctor just your regular doctor?  Is your doctor still going to send you to a specialist?  You will learn very quickly that you can't wait around for the doctor's to do something...you have to be proactive for yourself!

I understand that you are in a lot of pain and not feeling well and I understand how hard it is to motivate yourself to get help but you have to do it!  There are a lot of people on this site that are in the midst of trying to find a physician, be it a neurologist or any other type of specialist, including myself, that will look into our problems and take them seriously.  It is a frustrating, tiring road and we understand that and we are here for you as you travel this road!  There are a lot of people on this site besides myself that you will find are incredibly helpful and just a darn good shoulder to cry on when you need.

Like I said before, if you are able you should contact the current doctor and ask him/her what is the next step in finding out what is wrong with you.  It sounds as though the doctor you currently have is not sure of steps in finding out what the problem is with you and moving you on to a specialist in my opinion is a good idea.

Let us know what the dr. decides to do ok?

Lots of Hugs,

I am so sorry that you are having so much confusion and upset in your life right now and I would like to Welcome you to our group.  I haven't seen you in here before and would like you to know that we are available 24/7 for your questions, if you want to vent your frustrations, or just talk to someone and we have a great group of people here that can relate to some of your difficulties!

I agree that your doctor should send you to a different doctor as long as the new doctor is a Neurologist.  It is a good thing that you have had an MRI of your head and it should be a neurologist that reads it, not a regular doctor.

You should also have a full in-office Neurological exam and most general practioners do not have the skills to do one.  This type of exam can give a neurologist information on your mental status, cranial nerves, motor skills, reflexes, coordination and gait and your senses.  This exam is painless and should last a minimum of 1/2 hour if done correctly and if it doesn't last that long please question the doctor that is doing it as to why a full exam is not being done.

While of course we hope that a diagnosis of MS is not the outcome of your tests, please know that we are here for you as you go through this journey.  A Lumbar Puncture is also a test that is very useful in the diagnosis of not just MS but other illnesses as well and you might want to suggest it to the neurologist after you get the results from the MRI.

Please let us know how you make out and remember that we are here for you through thick and thin.  We have all gone through many different levels of what you are going through and who better to support you than someone that might have an idea what you are feeling.  Please keep in touch!

Lots of Hugs,

is this Dr a Neurologist? I would want to see a specialist with this.  But then I have and now I see my family Dr.  The specialist told me they can't confirm it?  Wait for 6 months to have another MRI.. and I'm guessing now, to see what other symptoms I get, which I have been getting alot more of.
If you Dr want to send you to a specialist..I would go.  Take care
