new mri's

Hey all.  I am going in for a new round of mri's now that I am no longer pregnant.  But the doc only ordered head,c-spine, and lumber with contrast.  Is that odd to leave off w/o contrast and the t-spine?

I think it is a little odd. (Looking in the lumbar region.) If they are looking for MS, the lumbar region doesn't have any myelin for MS to attack, so there won't be any lesions to see there. Maybe he's looking for something else besides MS. MS only attacks the brain, c-spine, t-spine, and optical nerve. That's pretty much what grabbed my attention.

As far as the contrast, the order is for contrast, so maybe they will still do the pictures w/o. My doctors have ordered some of my MRIs with contrast, and it was the same as w/o contrast but this is just a guess on my part.

Take Care

Hi there -

Hmpf! I'm just not sure - you think it was an error? I've never received the lumbar....

Does seem strange.  Especially if it was ordered before.  I'd think they'd want a comparison....
