MRI tomorrow

So I tried to get my MRI scheduled on a 3T machine and I can't since I have a copper IUD.  So I'm getting the MRI on a 1.5T.  I'm assuming if I've been having symptoms, if there is anything to be seen it will get picked up.  Is this a reasonable assumption?

I made a separate post with the whole results.  It showed a nonspecific t2/flair lesion.

The wait is killing me!  I think it took about 4 days last time before I got the results.

Waiting is always hard, tip is to keep you self mentally and or physically distractedly busy so you hardly have the time to think about it, easier said than done but it does help....JJ

The last time i looked into this, which was likely 5 years ago now, the 3T was said to show up to 25% more than the 1.5T but upgraded software and other things beyond me for the 1.5T's are suppose to of significantly improved what can be seen on the 1.5T....

The Mcdonald criteria was originally using the 1.5T MRI evidence so generally if there are lesions suggestive or consistent with MS, so whilst a 3T is better the 1.5T using MS protocol which is smaller slices of 3mm instead of the standard 5mm, should be enough to pick up MS brain lesions.

Information regarding copper iud's and MRI's:

"MRI at 3.0-T is possible for women with copper-containing IUDs. However, consulting a gynecologist to check the correct position of the IUD and exclude complications after an MR examination is highly recommended."

I tried to find something more updated for you, its probably available but i didn't have enough time to keep looking...

Hope that helps........JJ

Yes that helps.  They already rescheduled me to a 1.5T MRI.  I go first thing in the morning.
