Neuro report and more on BG-12

Saw my MS nurse practitioner today--she's fabulous--since I was way overdue. She ordered more MRIs, some blood work, the usual. She's also giving me Ampyra, which maybe will help with walking and with overall energy. I haven't seen Ampyra discussed much here lately. Anyone have any updates? She cautioned me that it can cause worse neuropathic pain, so of course I should stop if it does. Otherwise she wants to measure my walking speed 5 weeks after I start it.

She also has a good PT person for me, and wants me to go to a different urologist about bladder issues. Boo. Here's hoping I don't have to go through urodynamic testing, etc., again.

As to BG-12, she's a big fan. She's very optimistic that it will get FDA approval next week, and if it does, then we should expect it to be ready for prescription in early May. She'll definitely order it for me. Yay!

I spoke to her about BG-12 also when I was there last month-  they are definitely fans and want to see reports on side affects since I have such an easy time with Avonex, but wouldn't taking a pill be so easy!

Ess I am on Ampyra and LOVE it.  Without it my left leg just will not move - I can so tell if I am late taking it.  Let me know how you do on it.  i have am awesome PT person but she is in Harford County so a ride for you.

Let us know how the MRI's and urologist appt go.

I was supposed to go on it but I do not think so with the cancer. I am mildly depressed about that.

Where is everyone finding info on BG-12? I can't really find any. This is the new oral DMD that they are trying to get approved, correct?

you shouldn't have to repeat the urodynamic testing, you've already been thru H...L once!  I've refused it and my uro just grinned and said he thought I would.  smart man.  I wish I could have a 2nd urn, mine admits he knows nothing bout MS but doesn't indicate any desire to read up on it.......to get the man to run a UTI test is like asking congress for a balanced budget.....he'll only run it if his staff does a cath and I refuse, knowing they cause a bladder spasm every time, and I head for the walk in clinic.

She sounds like she is on the ball!  May, ok, that's good news on the BG-12, I want to try it too, if my insurance will cover it.  Otherwise will stay on Tysabri, depending on what MRI shows.  My cardiologist is ordering another one, its been a year and I want a new oen to take to my neuro.
