Ah cheesymum I am so sorry that you are still left hanging. I too would ask why not an MRI? That seems to be the one constant test--to a fault it seems- that most neuros rely on. I know how bad you want answers. Your neuro sounded very distracted. Whatever happens get a second opinion for sure and hang in there. There will be a conclusion for all of us limbolanders. Hugs to you.
In my opinion, a CT scan will not rule out MS as a diagnosis. I would question him very thoroughly on why he thinks MS is not an option.
A normal workup for an MS diagnosis includes:
1.5T MRI with and without gadolinium contrast
Spinal tap/lumbar puncture to check your cerebral spinal fluid for oligoclonal bands
If the results aren't conclusive, then they may send you to get a VEP and EMG.
I know it is frustrating, but hang in there. MS is a very difficult disease to diagnose. It can take many years to get a diagnosis. Your doctor was right when he said to be patient and it is awesome that he is being thourough, many doctors are not.
Hopefully your eeg will start you in the right direction.
Patience is not something that comes easy for me but I have learned through this journey that I either have patience or go insane. Take it one day at a time and you will get through it.
Keep us posted on your eeg results and blood panels. Call him back about the injection maybe he can squeeze you in to do it for you.
Take Care,
Paula
