specialist

Almost everyone on here talks about how important seeing an MS specialist is.  What is the real difference between a general neurologist and an MS specialist?  How do you really know if the neuro you are seeing is really an MS specialist or just says that they are?  I saw one who had listed on his office's website that he was an MS specialist, but he turned out to be a general neuro who dealt mostly with vasculitis.  Thanks:o).

There's nothing to be sorry about - this is an excellent question.

You are so right that just about anyone can say they specialize in treating MS patients but there is a real certification that goes with that .

You may want to check if there is  an MS Center near you - you can search the listings at the CMSC (Consortium of MS Centers) online -

Good luck with your search,
