stinging

Hi guys, sorry it has been awhile since I posted, but I have not been to good.  Was wondering, does anyone else ever experience stinging and swelling in the back of the knee that goes up the thigh, and down to the calf?   My gabapentin doesn't seem to stop it, and the only thing is codeine so far.

I have bakers cysts and my doc says they just appear; it does not hurt anywhere other than the back of the knee..........it swells up like a goose egg and then goes away
they don't do anything for them

Hi Candy,

I don't experience your symptoms but they MIGHT be caused by a Baker's cyst. A Baker's cyst is a fluid filled swelling behind your knee that may occur from an injury , arthritis meniscal tear of the knee. You can find more information on many on the web. A site I use frequently is emedicine.com. Below is a link to an emedicine article about Baker's cysts:

I hope it gets better for you.

Sending wishes for a healing knee,
Ren

Not the swelling but yes, I hate the stinging!  I couldn't function on gabapentin and it didn't stop the pain. I use Amitripylene. Seems to work for me and the dosage can be adjusted quite high. Talk to your doctor though incase this might be a new symptom of something else. Good Luck!

Stinging and swelling doesn't sound like an MS symptom.  Well, the stinging does, but not the swelling.

I had problems with my right leg last year - lots of pain right behind the knee, and my leg swelled up.  I thought it was spasticity and complications from the Betaseron.  Turns out it was a blood clot!

So talk to your PCP and investigate it further.
