I just wanted to say I am so glad for you that you listened to your gut instinct, pushed for further investigation and now at least know what she is dealing with so that she can be treated. It was so obvious that you knew there was something very wrong with her and thank goodness she was not sent home.
Now it is definitely time for you to put yourself and your own health first so hope that you can get the treatment sorted out.
I am glad that you found some time to enjoy going to the zoo with the family and roasting marshmallows.....yum! Hope the stove was not too much of a mes to clean up!
Love hugs and well done for all your support and efforts to help your husband's Mum.
With love and a big hug is winging its way over from England

Red- Thank you Hugs to you too!!
Audrey- When I posted about the antibiotics, I was going by what my Sis in laws told me, but you are indeed correct, she has viral meningitis, and they are simply keeping her comfortable. They took her off of the antibiotics. They did have her on them for suspected bacterial meningitis till the dx came in.
The Dr explained to my hubby that all they can do is wait for it to run its course, keep a moniter on her vitals and nutrients, keep her comfortable, and give her physical therapy to get her back on her feet.
When I did get to see her today she was still very weak and fatigued with little appetite, but definately on the road to recovery. She looked much less ill if that makes sense. Her appearance before today definately that of a very sick woman.
And holy cow my husband it trying to roast marshmallows on my stovetop with my 5 year old...I gotta go!!!

Glad to hear your MIL is improving rapidly, Not to be a noodge, but a little confused about the viral meningitis being treated with abx. Did you mean bacterial meningitis?
It's a very good thing that you were present to champion for your MIL; even without her medical issues, when someone is that sick and receiving substandard care, they need an advocate. She is indeed lucky to have a DIL like you.
The zoo today sounds like it was indeed a zoo! Happy to hear it was so much fun and a respite from everything else going on at this time.
May tomorrow be an even brighter day for you and your loved ones,
Audrey
Hi D.
I am so glad to hear that your mother in law is finally being treated! Hopefully she will recover soon regardless of her attitude.
Advocating for yourself or someon in your family is so vital now. And for me at least, it's easier to advocate for a family member.
Thanks for being there for her.

The zoo was great. DH almost got hit in the head by a giant owl at the bird show. Too much fun. Thank you for the idea about rehab therapy. She is very very weak and also depressed. I really think looking into rehab would be a huge help.
Hugs

I'm so glad they came to a diagnosis and it is something so treatable that mom-in-law is responding to already. If there is an inpatient rehab anywhere close by the family might want to see if she would qualify to go there for a short stay before going home. With some therapy she may be able to get some mobility back and increase her independence.
Good thoughts are now streaming across the country for your return to a stable and successful treatment regime.
How was the zoo today?
