update

its been awhile since i posted last. Just had another appt with my neuro today. She is sending me for a lumbar puncture it is set for next week. She is also having me have blood work for myasthenia gravis and a ms battery blood test, I am also to have the following blood tests borrelia burgdorferi ab index, porthrombin time/inr and activated ptt if anyone knows what in the world these all test for. My pcp is also interested in checking for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy too. I see a musclar nuero near the end of june. I sure hope someone can get to the bottom of what is going on with me. She is determined to find out what it is its just frustrating that its taking this long to find out what it is.

Hi Chiefad90,

It sounds like your doc is covering all the bases with the workup. Th Pt and PTT test clotting times and can cause a vasculitis that mimics MS. the borrelia is for tick borne illness and the testing for MG, which can be a mimic, is a smart move.

I hope the muscular neuro can help you out. I was dx with chronic inflammatory demylinating polyneuropathy at one point in time. I've traveled the road you are on. It's a long lonely one.  Just know we are here for support!! Your PCP sounds like a keeper. Let us know how the testing goes.

pt and ptt are cardiac tests, if memory serves me correct, determine clotting time, usual orders in many cases.....

Lyme is caused by bordella, sounds like they are covering all the bases, which is a good thing, get many things done at once, saves you being pin cushion later!

many of those things mimic MS symptoms so all have to be discarded

hope they find out something!

It has been a while since we have seen you here. I love it when folks stop back through and give us an update.  Being in limboland has to really stink - I hope this next round of tests will yield answers.

Keep us posted how it goes, ok?
