I finished mine 2 weeks ago.  He had me do IV steroids 3 days in a row and it took roughly and hour.  Then I was on Prednisone for 2 weeks.  Best of luck with your diagnosis and treatment.

I do certainly hope your bladder has found relief by now.  I just had a course of IV steroids and they put each dose in a 250ml (8.3 oz) bag of fluid, then ran it in over an hour plus.  My bladder was usually screaming at my foot to start tapping towards the end of the IV drink.  I'd give a nice polite bye-bye to the nurse and head to the bathroom as quickly as possible.

I had that IV dose five times over six days (that's oddball because I had to skip day two).  Some docs will give you pills to taper down from the high dosage.  Some don't.  You should call your doctor if you have specific problems anywhere along the line, especially with this being your first steroid course.

If you have lasted since yesterday without standing or voiding and you haven’t noticed that your Serta transformed itself into a waterbed, I'm thinking your MS is causing a retention problem.  It is NOT healthy to go pee*less this long.  Please clarify your original situation for us and update your status.

Something is wrong with my simple button today.  I pushed it hoping things would get easy but that's not what I've noticed.  So now I can't post this without offering to make a call to Milton-Bradley for you.  I could request your Monopoly game piece skip the Waterworks property on all pass-throughs until this treatment is finished.  It should be simple, right?

It sounds like you need to contact your doctor or the home nurse and get a better understanding of the instructions.

I know after the LP they will tell you to take it easy, but you definitely can get up and move around a little bit.  If you have a headache when you stand up, you can bend at the waist while you move to get some relief.

What type of cortisone drip are you on that will take that long?  I'm with sumana, it should take an hour or so if it is the usual solumedrol IV.

feel better, Lulu

Errrr...by the time you read this ...it will be too late but I think you misunderstood the directions.  You can get up to pee...but go back and lay down afterward...

It depends on how much of the cortisone you are getting.  My first IVSM took a darn HOUR.  Then they went to forty minutes...and now it is at thirty for a gram.

I hope you start feeling better soon and I especially hope you got to pee...lol
