when to update neuro

I started into a pretty major relapse about 3 weeks ago. Called my neuro and reported my new symptoms (leg weakness in left leg parasthesia in left leg, and imcreased dizziness). I did a 3 day round of IV steroids, and also had my yearly MRI.

It has been 2 weeks since I finished the solumedrol, but none of my symptoms seems to have improved and actually I have noticed some weakness in both of my arms as well.

My question is how long should I wait before calling my neuro again? I don't have an appointment for another 4-5 months. Is there any point in calling? I mean, what can he do besides the steroids anyway, but should I let him know there really hasn't been any change?

I agree with grannyhotwheels. I hate feeling like I'm being  a pain in the rear to my Dr. and the office. BUT, they should know what is going on. I think I'd give it a week or two. For me, on prednisone it works very fast where I notice I am much, much better. So if it wouldn't work in a week for me I would let them know. Something isn't right on my end would be my thinking.

I am at the moment taking nothing and right now don't really feel I HAVE to. I'd like something for some of my off the wall symptoms but blah I can live with them. I'll just start getting pushy if things start getting bad again :)

You should definetely let the doctor know that your symptoms are not improving or getting worse... If nothing else just to have it noted in your records that the steroids are not working... Always report any new or worsening symptom for this reason...

I'm not sure he will order PT without seeing you again but you can always ask... Wishing you the best...

I'll be praying,

They called and said that my MRI was "no worse than it usually is". LOL. It was just of the brain, so doesn't say anything about my spinal cord though.

I was just wondering if and when I should let them know that my symptoms aren't easing up. Three weeks, six weeks? Since it is affecting my walking should I ask for a referall to physical therapy? I already own a large variety of assistive devices. Throughout the years I've aquired quite a collection. ;-)

I'm just not sure what the protocol is since usually my symptoms start improving shortly after the steroids. If I'm just supposed to sit tight and deal I can do that too :-)

Bright Blessings,
April

Can you get your MRI results before your appointment with the neuro?  Having to wait on them for 4 to 5 months seems way too long to me... I would definetely call him and if that doesn't get you in any earlier your PCP may be able to get the results for you... Mine did for me...

I hope this helps and I'm so sorry your in a relapse right now...

I'll be praying,
Carol
