what are some first signs of MS?

I am just curious of the first signs of MS. I understand they differ from person to person, but am none the less curious. How did it begin and at what age?

Michelle, you are posting at the end of a very old thread where fewer people read. I suggest you start a new post and tell us a bit more about your symptoms, so we can come up with some specific advice.

Please also understand that this is not a doctor-monitored forum. We are MS patients here, and those in limbo. We do have very good Health Pages (top right) where you can find lots of accurate, easy to read info.

There currently is no MS Expert doctor at MedHelp. You could check the Neurology Expert Forum, though no MS specialist is there.

I can tell you one thing-----Lasik surgery will have no effect on MS. It does not address the optic nerve, which is where MS attacks.

Good luck to you,
ess

Welcome to the MS Forum.  We are glad that you posted your story.

May I refer you to a previous post by Quixotic1 that is entitled MRI's, Lesions and Symptoms? That is a great article in helping to explain alot about MS.  After you read through that, please feel free to post any questions you may have about specific things.  We will be glad to help if we can.

Again, Welcome.  You are in a great place.

The reason I ask is this::

I had recently posted in the nutrition forum about my vitamin D level being real low. I had also mentioned some odd symptoms I have and seem to be getting worse. I know my body and something is not right. I truly believe it is something more than just low vitamin D levels. i understand it can cause bone pain, but these symptoms I have are more than that.

I have recently noticed my eyesight is getting blurry, and I understand that stuff comes with age, but i am only 25. I get extreme pain in my legs at times, kind of a sharp stinging aching pain in the bone accompanied by, but not always, tight burning in the muscles in my legs. It has started to make its way to my shoulders, arms, wrists and hands. At times my legs feel so restless that I have a hard time getting to sleep.

I have noticed I can not stand for longer than 30-40 mins before my back hurts and my legs (bone, nerves) start to sting bad. At times I get shooting pain down the sides of my neck, electric like, that go down my arms and make my hands tingle. In that case I had just an x ray and was told it is just caused by degenerative disks in my cervical spine.

A couple of yrs ago I had a scary episode, but none like it since. I was alone and out of nowhere my ENTIRE body from head to toe went tingly. My eyesight went completely blurry for about 2mins. I got up to go lay in bed and was pretty dizzy, I had to hold onto the wall. When I laid down the muscles in my legs started twitching pretty bad.

Anyway, I guess I have made this long enough. I am just wondering what someones, ANYONES opinions are. Does any of this sound serious? It is getting really frustrating. Any blood tests I have had done have only showed Vitamin D at 17 and a positive ANA of 1:80, which isn't bad.. So, what do you think? :-/
