what is this? TN or fibro

Well I just got home from the dentist (routine cleaning). The good news: no cavities :).
I told her my sx (listed below).

about a year ago, I started experiencing numbness/tingling that follows the nerve above my right eye. it lasts a few seconds to maybe a minutes or two.

it goes around my eye and moves down my cheek and stops on my upper right lip. or I get one that follows my jaw to my lower lip. just barely in my hair line (right side only)I fell pain/burning.

About 2 months, it changed to a electric type pain. it hung around 2 day (on and off multiple times through out the day- this lasts anywhere from a day to weeks) then disappeared.

it was just above my right eye and the other one was just below my R eye on/in my check bone. I still get tingling/kinda numb feeling down this nerves.

I've also notice 1/2 my tongue (right side) doesn't feel normal. kinda tingling can't feel it 100%. I slur when this happens.

about a month ago, the shocking electrical thing has included most of my teeth on my right side. last week all my teeth on my right side felt as if they all had big cavities with electric shocks. my face (right side) was also getting these jolts.

well she checked my teeth even tapped them with handle part of the mirror(there ok), she checked my jaw to see if its aligned right (it is), she couldn't find anything wrong.

In '04 I was dx with fibro, so she blamed it on that. but I not convinced.

fibro do not act like this; it amplifies pain/aches it does not cause it or damage the body and its body wide. the fibro also isn't acting normal (it hasn't since Jan '09) when my weird sx started.

it can't feed off of it like it does for OA. My PCP think these somewhat new sx are neurological (still waiting for insurance to ok me to see neuro)

What do you think? Does this sound like TN or fibro to you? I do have MS sx. Sorry for the book. my R eye has been acting up too, so please no big paragraphs

that's what my gut feeling has been telling me since this mess started not fibro.

Within the last 6 months, I felt what I 1st thought was bad case of heart burn until I took a drink of cold water. my esophagus stopped burning when I took a drink, but returned as soon as the cold water passed.  my stomach didn't have the burning sensation. it last for 3 days and so far hasn't returned.

I've never experienced this with fibro. I'd be guessing here, but I think the nerve in my throat are a little low for TN. would this be correct?

ever since that bad flu (dec'08/jan'09)that almost killed me (my daughter told me I was turning gray, average fever was 102.6 spiked for 2 day 105.8F), the right side of my body has been going haywire.

I had some minor sx before like heat intolerance for a day or two. I wonder if the blood/brain barrier was breached during that flu. is that possible?

I've had Fibro for 20 yrs now, and up until recently, last year and a half, have never had the facial pain, numbness, like you describe.  My similar sx started recently.  Fibro does many things, but this face thing, has never been a Fibro sx.

My Fibro sx make me feel almost flu like.  I cant be touched too hard cause it hurts,I kinda feel like I'm bruised all over, but I too started with the stabbing shock like pains in the face, I've also had the lip tingling and numbness, it was wierd, only the middle of my tongue tingled and went numb, and then the same day the middle part of the roof of my mouth did the same thing.  Lasted 2 days.  This is not Fibro honey

It sure sounds like TN to me...never heard of fibro doing any of your symptoms. I have aytyipical TN but get burning spams on right side of face mostly, and more recently have been having painful spams under right eye. occassional electric shock if I move my eye to quickly in one direction with occassional blurriness on computer screen. So to me it sounds like TN. Good luck I also have lips and tongue that are numb off and on.
Take care...

I think my dad is going to flip when I tell him what happened. he's a retired dentist but can't help. he's out of state and legally blind now. petty he was an excellent dentist.

If this problem showed up while he was working, at the very least he'd referred me to a nuero.

I kept telling my dentist the pain isn't full body/face wide just my right side. my dentist was telling me doctors don't know what fibro can do.

It is TN.

It is not fibro!

I've had similar pains and shocks in the exact places you describe, and even though some doctors have said I might have fibro, NONE of them suggested that the face shocks were fibro. Neither did my dentist.

Your dentist is being ridiculous. I can't believe a dental professional, who must know a lot about the trigeminal nerve, could think this is fibro. She obviously knows nothing about fibro.
